Object: DEMOCRATS KEEPING GAS PRICES HIGH!
They said on Fox News today that 95% of the Democratic Caucus in
Congress has voted against allowing construction of any new oil
refineries, despite the fact that existing refineries are maxed
out now and the high prices that we're seeing are because of a
lack of more refinery capacity that's artificially keeping
prices high.
Then those same Democrats complain that the oil companies are
<gasp> making a profit, while not reinvesting in things that
could lower the price of gas!
It's time to clean house of Democrats this fall and vote for,
preferably libertarians, or at least Republicans who won't
obstruct taking the actions necessary to bring gas prices down
again.
High gas prices are the fault of the Democrats.
The Democrat obstructionists are at fault for the high gas
prices we're seeing now AND the energy crisis we face.
They obstructed President Bush's energy policy from passing, for
years.
They obstructed new refineries from being built for the last 30
years.
They obstructed oil from being drilled in ANWAR for years.
They obstructed new oil exploration in the entire U.S. for
years.
AND they’ve obstructed new nuclear plants from being built for
YEARS.
The Governor of Alaska recently said that we have enough natural
gas on federal lands to solve much of this country’s energy
needs but the Democrats have been obstructing that too.
They obstruct everything they can, then BLAME the Republicans.
If you’re FED up with Democrat obstructionism and whining, thank
them this fall. Don't vote for them.
NEVER AGAIN VOTE FOR A DEMOCRAT.
The Democrats are SLOBS: Smearing Lying Obstructing Bashing
Socialists.

You should try to be more comprehensive..
You neglected to mention a pertinent fact... (a behavior that is
rampant these days)..
You forgot to mention that the opening of the north slope protected
environment had been included as part of the 'energy bill'.
The only thing keeping energy prices high.. is oil cartel pricing at
the highest levels of that industry along with collusion at the
governmental level. Some may call that criminal collusion.

Be careful here. There are three issues:
[1] The price of natural gas. I'd have to research the issue; there are a
number of factors regarding the refinement and/or retrieval of same that I
for one just don't know about. I would hope we can cap old landfills, at
least.
[2] The price of gasoline, commonly referred to as "gas". Since gasoline
is not extracted from federal land (crude oil is) one might need
clarification here.
[3] The price of energy in general; this includes gas and gasoline, but
also includes coal, nuclear, and so-called "renewables", which of course
is a misnomer; all power is either fusion-(Solar-)related or related to
the creation of the Earth (in particular, tidal leverages the rotation of
our planet; geothermal of course picks up energy that ultimately was
created when the Earth was). Once it's gone, it's gone, but the Sun
produces 3.94 * 10^26 W of power, most of it radiating away into empty
space for other species in other stellar systems to observe via
high-powered telescopes, assuming anyone is in fact out there.
In this context, things such as hydrogen and electricity are conduits, and
wouldn't solve anything, really.

Libertarians are extremely discredited. Republicans are our only hope.

High gas prices are the fault of the Democrats.

The Democrat obstructionists are at fault for the high gas prices we're
seeing now AND the energy crisis we face.

They obstructed President Bush's energy policy from passing, for years.

They obstructed new refineries from being built for the last 30 years.

They obstructed oil from being drilled in ANWAR for years.

They obstructed new oil exploration in the entire U.S. for years.

You forgot logging bans, building on filled swampland bans,
environmental costs, insurance/medical costs, and very high taxes and
labor costs.
- Logging bans: We need wood (see below).
- Filled swampland bans: We need land for single-family housing, maybe
about 3000-5000 sq feet per with a nice view, a flower garden with outdoor
fountain, 2 sheds (1 for garden tools including driving mower, 1 for other
miscellany such as children's bicycles) 5 bedrooms (one per child, plus
the master bedroom of course, where Mommy and Daddy sleep in a single bed
-- since they're married there's no scandal here as long as they only use
approved methods of birth control such as Natural Family Planning),
servant's/employee's quarters, central heating/air conditioning (main
house only), dining room (with waiter or waitress), kitchen (with chef), 5
walk-in closets with jewelry safe, and of course chandeliers for lighting.
(A modern touch: a large living room with 61 inch multi-speaker
surround-sound TV/stereo combo unit, and a library of CD's/DVD's. Each
bedroom might have its own TV/stereo combo -- not quite as big, of course.
Various other options such as Bluetooth and mobiles are also
contemplatable, but this already runs overlong...)
Oh, and sufficient garage space for up to 4 Hummer H3 or equivalent autos,
so that at any time the kids of the baseball, football (USA or non-),
hockey, bowling, cheerleading, lacrosse, curling, chess, bocce, etc. team
can be picked up and driven to their baseball, football (USA or non-),
etc. game/tournament/award/function/etc.
(It might be more if Mom has twins or triplets, but the general idea is
that at most 2 children would be at home and driving at any one time, as
they'd start driving at age 16 but leave at 18; the rest would either be
not old enough, at college, or constructing their own houses, with
husbands or wives of their own to care for. Note that one of the H3s
might be replaced with a hybrid, continuously-variable transmission, or
pure electric if Dad is feeling cost-conscious.)
- Very high taxes: You've probably heard of "obstruction of justice".
There should be a related term: "obstruction of business". The maximum
income tax rate at this time is just below 40%, and is far too high to
make for meaningful profits. (Shaddap, EU! You need to reduce your taxes
as well; the eventual devastation of your economies from the businesses
moving wholesale to China, the US, and other tax havens won't be pleasant.)
- Environmental costs: This is another "obstruction of business". It
costs to stop dam construction for such things as the snail darter. It
costs to stop logging of wood just because it would destroy spotted owl
habitat. It costs to forbid drilling off the cost because it "might
destroy the coastline in the event of a major disaster". It costs to
have clean air, water, and land. How much that cost is might be open for
debate, admittedly, possibly on a case-by-case basis. (These costs might
include global warming as well, of course.)
- Insurance/medical costs: These are spiraling upward at a ridiculous
rate. However, there is a simple solution: remove all litigation
possibilities against doctors, HMOs, and hospitals, and have all patients
thereof sign indemnification papers upon entry. In short, make it
impossible to sue for malpractice. (The flip side: caveat emptor. Of
course how one has a heart attack patient who's in a coma signing papers
is an interesting subquestion, but one might give the HMOs limited power
of attorney as well in that case, for the duration of the emergency. It
is not clear what requirements ambulances will be under in such a scenario.)
- Labor costs: minimum wage is higher than the *mean world GDP*, and is a
primary factor, insofar as I can tell, for the "immigration gap". In
short, they come here to get rich, and they stay here to get benefits that
aren't easily measurable in terms of dollars: society, community,
stability. Of course, it might be simpler to just annex Canada and
Mexico. Also, free immigration -- the only restriction might be that an
applicant for a visa would have to prove that he or she has no criminal
record, which might be an issue for, say, certain Burmese dissidents --
would cut labor costs substantially. (Asylum applications are probably
off topic here anyway. :-) )
Ideally, any company making more than about $20M/year would pay no tax at
all. Let the market decide. Also, why is the minwage so damned high? It
should probably be 1/3 of the world's mean GDP/cap/year (currently, that's
about $9,300). 1/3 of world GDP would of course translate to about $1.50
per hour. (Note that our average GDP/cap is currently about $19.75/hour.)
And even then, we'd have problems with Haitian immigrants (Afghanistan is
a little far away), but it would probably cut our Mexican problem to a
trickle.
Democrats are obstructing all of these, AFAIK.

AND theyÂ’ve obstructed new nuclear plants from being built for YEARS.

The Governor of Alaska recently said that we have enough natural gas on

Democrats have been obstructing that too.

Indeed. Vote for a Republican. We need supermajorities in both houses of
Congress and a 6-3 lead in the Supreme Court to Just Get The Job Done(tm).
Repeal of Amendment 22, most gun laws (once one properly defines what a
gun is; they come in various sizes from a pee-wee 9mm semiautomatic
pistol to a field-towable artillery piece) and Amendment 1 (so that
we can ban bad speech such as "environmentalism", "atheism", and
"United Nations") would be a nice bonus as well.
Republicans. Just Get The Job Done(tm). (Never mind what the job
actually *is*.)
