In fact, Schreiber said, when Brian Doyle first identified
himself as a press secretary for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security,
and sent a picture of himself wearing an official DHS tag,
the sheriff's detectives thought he was lying.
"We just couldn't believe that a person of that magnitude
would be online soliciting a minor and would immediately
reveal where they worked," Schreiber said.
Once they verified Doyle's identity,
"We took it extremely seriously," Schreiber said.
Normally they would have continued the investigation for
a couple of months, to see whether he would travel to
Polk County to meet the girl.
But in this case, they were worried because he works in
a position where he has access to sensitive, possibly
classified information, Schreiber said.
"The first reaction was worrying about the security of
our nation. We thought if someone is soliciting a
child online, what else is he doing?"

Doyle could face up to 115 years in prison on the charges,
according to a spokesman at the State Attorney's office.
