I am a fierce independent -- I always have been and I always will be. I
am independent in my thinking, my political beliefs, and my religious
beliefs. My parents reared me to think for myself and to be critical in
my assessment and analysis of each and every situation I encountered,
and to evaluate people using those same criteria.
When it comes to voting in local, state, and national elections I have
run the gamut. When the presidential candidates were George H.W. and
Michael Dukakis I didn't like either of them -- so, true to my
independent spirit, I wrote in John Madden and Pat Summerall. When the
candidates were George H.W. and Bill Clinton, I voted for Bill Clinton.
It was difficult for me to swallow the fact that a former Director of
the CIA could be so out of touch with "real America" that he didn't know
stores used barcode scanners at check-out counters. ..more
