Object: DO YOU HAVE BUSH BUTT SNIFFER SYNDROME ?
1. Do you think that people that get shot by other people should apologize
to the person that shot them?
2. Do you still think that IRAQ had something to do with 9/11 ?
3. Do you think that democrats should be impeached because they had
consensual oral sex, but republicans shouldn't
be impeached for: starting an ill-timed and disastrous war under false
pretenses by lying to the American people and
to the Congress; turning a budget surplus into a severe deficit;
consistently and unconscionably favored the wealthy and
corporations over the rights and needs of the population; destroying
trust and confidence in, and good will toward, the
United States around the globe; ignoring global warming, to the world's
detriment; wantonly breaking our treaty
obligations; condoning torture of prisoners; attempting to create a
theocracy in the United States; spying on americans
without going through the legal process, and appointing incompetent
cronies to positions of vital national importance.
4. When polls indicate that 36% of americans approve of the job bush is
doing, do you think that 36% is an
overwhelming majority ?
5. Do you get your news from Rush Blowhard Limbaugh or from Fix (aka fox)
news
6. Do you think it's perfectly okay to give control of american ports over
to the same race of people that committed
9/11 ?
7. Do you whine about making sure there are free elections in the middle
east and then whine when that same
process you just created elects a bunch of terrorists?
8. Do you still think islam is a peaceful religion? (president bush does).
9. Do you believe that shell and exxon only have the best interests of the
american consumer at heart?
10. When polls indicate that 36% of americans approve of the job bush is
doing, do you think that means that 64% of the
americans don't understand what busy is trying to accomplish?
11. Do you think the iraqi insurgency is in its last throes?

That was weird all around. One might have noticed, for instance, how it
blew everything else off the front page (pun intended!) for a few days.
(The fact that the target wasn't more seriously injured only added fuel to
the jokes, but he could have lost an eye, if not worse.)

2. Do you still think that IRAQ had something to do with 9/11 ?

I wish I knew. Or maybe not, since then I'd probably have to have a top
security clearance and live somewhere in Washington, Vermont, or Virginia.
As it was, things looked all right at first; he went into Afganistan and
started looking for Osama....but why Iraq? At that point my brain starts
to hurt.
Osama's popping up a few days before the 2004 election didn't help, either.

3. Do you think that democrats should be impeached because they had
consensual oral sex, but republicans shouldn't
be impeached for: starting an ill-timed and disastrous war under
false pretenses by lying to the American people and
to the Congress;

Highly unfortunate but not a crime. (He was not under oath. Clinton was.)

turning a budget surplus into a severe deficit;

I'm not sure that's entirely his fault. Not that he helped it any, with
his tax cuts, and there are some lingering questions as to whether he
could have prevented 2001-09-11, with the information he had back then.

consistently and unconscionably favored the wealthy and
corporations over the rights and needs of the population;

Unclear, but not a crime, unless one can build a case that the
Constitution requires such. (There is the phrase of "promoting the
general welfare", and no, that doesn't mean helping high-ranking
military officials retire. :-) )

destroying trust and confidence in, and good will toward, the
United States around the globe;

Highly unfortunate but not a crime. Admittedly, I'm wondering whether it
should be at times.

ignoring global warming, to the world's detriment;

Highly unfortunate but not a crime. (He might have some issues regarding
suppression of certain scientific publications, though.)

wantonly breaking our treaty obligations;

Specify. If true, might be prosecutable, but Kyoto never was signed, for
example.

condoning torture of prisoners;

That one has potential. *Lots* of potential, if done right. Of course
first one has to see the prisoners are something other than terrorists and
potential terrorists -- and given this Administration's ability to spin
its own version of the Two Minute Hate [*], one wonders if the populace
will be able to see through the veil, or not.

attempting to create a theocracy in the United States;

Specify.

spying on americans without going through the legal process,

That one also has potential. Of course, I'm not sure he was spying on
Americans as such, but terrorists aren't the only ones who will receive
phone calls from Middle East countries; there are a few immigrants over
here with family in that area, after all. (I don't know offhand how many.)
The fact that he loves to play the secrecy card -- gotta keep from
warning the terrorists on what bits are working, y'know -- doesn't help
any, though.

and appointing incompetent cronies to positions of vital national importance.

Not a crime, although highly unfortunate. Brownie did a heckuva job,
alright -- he practically ruined FEMA's credibility, and that will haunt
him with potential lobbyists and probably bankrupt him because of civil
suits. But still not a crime, unless there's something in Federal law
regarding the causation of death while running a Federal Agency.

4. When polls indicate that 36% of americans approve of the job bush is
doing, do you think that 36% is an
overwhelming majority ?

33% now. I wish the Democrats could get their act together, though; "we
hate Bush" is *not* a unification message.

5. Do you get your news from Rush Blowhard Limbaugh or from Fix (aka
fox) news

It's an interesting failure, the collapse of newsgathering. While it's
not dead yet, the system does appear to be suffering from information
overload, and the news system is at times reduced to little more than
reading from corporate handouts.
(Or, for that matter, from Republican talking points. Admittedly, the
Progressive bunch over on opinion shows such as The Majority Report sound
a bit shrill at times. But then, the Administration sound very weird at
times.)

6. Do you think it's perfectly okay to give control of american ports
over to the same race of people that committed 9/11 ?

Race? Muslims aren't a race. Not that the Dubya Dubai Deal doesn't stink
to high heaven, and there are some questionable issues about Dubai proper
in relation to al Qaeda. And they certainly aren't democratic.

7. Do you whine about making sure there are free elections in the middle
east and then whine when that same process you just created elects a bunch
of terrorists?

Specify. But it's clear that we're going to have our hands full in
Palestine (or whatever the Palestinians call their new state --
eventually). Of course the Hamas aren't "terrorists" to the people who
elected them.

8. Do you still think islam is a peaceful religion? (president bush
does).

2 Kings 2 23-24 has kids mauled by bears, because they insulted a High
Priest. In Matthew 10 Jesus brings a sword. There's a few other places
but Islam isn't the only religion dealing with blood -- in fact, Catholics
*drink* blood, like vampires, through the miracle of transubstantiation.
(It tastes suspiciously like red wine.)
Who's the more violent here? Not that I really want to turn this into a
religous fracas but there's one thing I do like about Jesus: the beam in
one's eye should be looked at first.
Of course al Qaeda and the Taliban seem to have corrupted religion to
their own ends; the Founding Fathers were very smart in that area.
The good news is that "faith-based initiatives" pushed by Bush early in
2001 or thereabouts got about as far as Hillary's attempts to push
reform for the medical industry early in the Clinton administration. The
bad news: I suspect it simply went into "stealth mode". This
Administration seems to love "stealth mode".

9. Do you believe that shell and exxon only have the best interests of
the american consumer at heart?

I do wonder what they will do with that ~ $10B of profits. *Profits*.
Hopefully they'll invest in alternate technologies such as synthetic fuel
oil and fusion power.
Of course part of that profit is courtesy of Bush & Co's tax breaks, and
there was at one point a "windfall profits tax", sometime during the
Carter administration or maybe the Reagan administration.

10. When polls indicate that 36% of americans approve of the job bush is
doing, do you think that means that 64% of the americans don't understand
what busy is trying to accomplish?

Sometimes I wonder how Bush won the 2004 election.

11. Do you think the iraqi insurgency is in its last throes?

Was Vietnam, when we pulled out? I do wonder.
Followups.

news media. :-)
