Does The U.S. Government Now Know What The Hell It Is Doing In Iraq? |
It has apparently pulled the rug out from under its fighting men at Fallujah (mainly Marines)
in first ordering a unilateral cease fire and truce (which was not honored by the Iraqis) and
giving the enemy tactical advantage, and now ordering the marines to retreat
from hard won strategic territory so that former high-ranking Saddam
general and Baathists could enter Fullujah with about 2000 Arab troops to bolster the
insurgent forces there. This is unbelievably stupid. It is also giving the Islamic world a
propaganda victory as they are depiction this retreat as a defeat for the U.S. military.
Earlier when hard fighting was going on in Fallujah we were told by the Pentagon
and the State Department that U.S. marines were in combat with Muslim
insurgents made up of Saddam diehards, foreign or non-Iraqi Muslims and Baathists.
Now more Baathists, including former Saddam officers, are incredibly being treated
as allies of the Americans.
Certain American officers and combat troops on the ground have been outspoken and
critical of what their commanders (no doubt following orders
from political and bureaucratic leaders), saying
that they as soldiers have been put in danger by such bizarre interference and strategy.
The conducting of the Iraq war is becoming more and more like that of Vietnam 35 years ago.
Is Robert McNamara back in the Pentagon?
