Europeans See U.S. as Threat to Global Stability
September 5, 2006
Some adults in five European nations express reservations about the role
of the United States in world affairs, according to a poll by Harris
Interactive published in the Financial Times. 30 per cent of respondents
believe the U.S. is the greatest threat to global stability.
Iran is second on the list with 23 per cent, followed by China with 15
per cent, Iraq with 14 per cent, North Korea with eight per cent, and
Russia with two per cent.
In Spain, 44 per cent of respondents place the U.S. as the main
perceived threat. 36 per cent of respondents in Britain—and 28 per cent
of respondents in France—feel the same way.
In Italy, Iran was the first country on the list with 31 per cent. The
U.S. and Iran are tied with 24 per cent in Germany’s sample.
On Aug. 31, U.S. president George W. Bush discussed his foreign policy
approach, saying, "America has committed its influence in the world to
advancing freedom and democracy as the great alternatives to repression
and radicalism. We will take the side of democratic leaders and
reformers across the Middle East. We will support the voices of
tolerance and moderation in the Muslim world."
After being branded as part of an "axis of evil" by Bush in January
2002, Iran has contended that its nuclear program aims to produce
energy, not weapons.

Of course, that's what Carter said about Korea; look at Korea today.

They do, but in fact EUROPE is the bigger threat to world peace because
they refuse to stand up and be counted against terrorism even when their own
cities are burning. Europe is just redoing the 1930's....... It's Deja vu
all over again. Same spineless ***** from Europeans.

Terrorism may be a new experience to you yanks, but the rest of the world
has been putting up with it for a long time.
And you believe any of these situations compare to 911? Perhaps it is
you that has been kept inside of your own world. We have been putting
up with these terrorists for many years. 911 just woke up a lot of
people here, but obviously not abroad.
What I really get sick of is "what people in Europe think." Why in the
world should any American give a crap about the opinion of Europeans?
We have our own country to protect. This isn't a popularity contest we
are running here; this is war. And this passive attitude that "If we
leave them alone, they will leave us alone" isn't reality.
What is reality is 911. What is reality are those links you posted.
That's reality. And the reality is, if all free nations don't join
hands in killing every last one of these sons of bitches, we are all
doomed. But no, instead, we will rid our countries of those political
parties or Prime Ministers who dare accept the challenge of defeating
these animals. Instead, we will look at America as the evil and not the
terrorists or terrorist nations. Instead, we should sit back, put up
with this terrorist crap, and pay no attention to aggressive countries
that are trying to develop nuclear weapons. Yes, if we just leave them
alone, they will leave us alone.
So I'll reiterate here. Perhaps if Europe has their own 911, they will
think differently.

Yes I do. Although the scale of 9/11 is much bigger than anything the UK has
seen so far we've had to put up with more attacks over a longer length of
time.
Perhaps it is

Well I would have thought the obvious answer is that if America wants the

to care about what other counties think.
We have our own country to protect. This isn't a popularity contest we

Yes I do. Although the scale of 9/11 is much bigger than anything the UK has
seen so far we've had to put up with more attacks over a longer length of
time.
I hardly call that a comparison. Do you remember how these people died
in those towers? Could you imagine what that must have been like being
trapped in there for so long? Or faced with the decision to jump to
your death to avoid a more painful way of dying? 911 changed America
forever. We pumped billions on top of billions to avoid another tragedy
like this. The lines at the airports are certainly no help, and the
additional security needed is a real pain in the ***** for many people.
My tenant flies all the time, but because of his Middle Eastern descent,
he gets hassled every trip he makes.
Perhaps it is
you that has been kept inside of your own world. We have been putting

Really? What other terrorist attacks have happen inside the USA? Can you

For a terrorist attack to have affect on a Nation, it has to be carried
out within it's borders? I really don't think the loved ones of those
lost in terrorist attacks cry any less than if it happened here at home.
911 just woke up a lot of
people here, but obviously not abroad.
What I really get sick of is "what people in Europe think." Why in the
world should any American give a crap about the opinion of Europeans?
Well I would have thought the obvious answer is that if America wants the
rest of the world to care about American opinions then, inturn America has
to care about what other counties think.
When in hell did we ask that anybody care about our opinions? I don't
know, so I'll ask, do Europeans get polls of what Americans think about
them when any country there makes a decision? And if there are such
polls out there in Europe, do Americans make the same comparisons of
them that they make of us? And does Europe form policy over what
Americans think?
We have our own country to protect. This isn't a popularity contest we
are running here; this is war. And this passive attitude that "If we

Did you actually bother checking any of them? You do realize that lots of
Americans seem to support terrorism, as long as it happens somewhere else

And just what Americans are we talking about here? I don't recall any
American ever making such a statement. I would say the closest we come
is telling Israel to back off the Palestinians a bit from time to time.
That's reality. And the reality is, if all free nations don't join
hands in killing every last one of these sons of bitches, we are all
doomed. But no, instead, we will rid our countries of those political
parties or Prime Ministers who dare accept the challenge of defeating

I take it you are aware that the UK is in Iraq right now as well as
Afganistan along side American forces? And I take it you know your current
administration lied to everyone about WMD's and Iraq's (non) links to
Al-Qaeda?
I am quite aware of UK's involvement in this war with us, but I am also
aware of why Blair is leaving. Government is government, but the people
need to understand the necessity to wipe these people and organizations
out; and not just there, here in America as well.
Nobody lied in this war. The WMD's were not there when we arrived, but
that doesn't mean he didn't have it at the time we were planning on
throwing Saddam out. There was a hell of a lot of stalling by the UN
before we went in. A lie is not a miscalculation. A lie is not an
error. A lie is knowing something for a fact but telling a non-truth
about it. And this extends beyond the Republicans and Bush. Many of
Clintons people said the same about Saddam.
Instead, we will look at America as the evil and not the
terrorists or terrorist nations. Instead, we should sit back, put up
with this terrorist crap, and pay no attention to aggressive countries
that are trying to develop nuclear weapons. Yes, if we just leave them

http://tinyurl.com/kwys
Yes I did, but that situation is far from a 911. Terrible, yes, but not
nearly as tragic as the WTC. Besides, most of the people who died in
that plane were Americans according to that link you sent. 911 was more
than just a terrorist attack, it was a symbolic attack as well because
of the date and structure that was targeted. It was an attack on
freedom. It changed America forever.
The plane that crashed in New York two months after the WTC didn't have
nearly the impact it should have had. That too is believed by many to
have been a terrorist attack as well. Even though flight 587 killed 265
people including those on the ground, it paled in comparison to 911 and
people were still in shock. After the Oklahoma City bombing, we
survived that as well, but even that was nothing like 911. 911 was a
totally different type of attack altogether, and by Gods will, I hope
nobody else has to go through something like that.
