FEMA chief: Victims bear some responsibility
Thursday, September 1, 2005; Posted: 11:41 p.m. EDT (03:41 GMT)
(CNN) -- The director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency said
Thursday those New Orleans residents who chose not to heed warnings to
evacuate before Hurricane Katrina bear some responsibility for their
fates.
Michael Brown also agreed with other public officials that the death
toll in the city could reach into the thousands.
"Unfortunately, that's going to be attributable a lot to people who
did not heed the advance warnings," Brown told CNN.
"I don't make judgments about why people chose not to leave but, you
know, there was a mandatory evacuation of New Orleans," he said.

A lot of them stayed to protect their property from the looters at
FEMA and the police dept. And some just didn't believe the weather
forecasts.

They do. The ones that had the wherewithal to leave and didn't ended
up overtaxing the facilities that should have been used for those who
had no choice. Then they whined about it after looting the city.

Why don't you just say 'Blacks' instead of 'looters'? Give everyone a
break from the artificiality of modern America, and speak frankly. This
country is choking on delusion and cowardice. There would be little
problem and a quick recovery if not for the hordes of Blacks who
inhabit the area.

Most of the looting is being done by the local cops or the fema
vultures. Of course, the media lies to us and says it's the
minorities. Happens every time.

No. Enough of the American BlackSlave/White Master psycho--melodrama. The
looters were looters. Pardon the pun but please call a spade a spade:
New Orleans was looted mostly by blacks still acting out the American Black
Slave/White Master psycho-melodrama. Instead of acting responsibly, hordes
of citizens choose to act like irresponsible children or better yet, like
slaves gone wild after master was incapacitated.
Look at Jamaica. It's not as if Blacks can't govern themselves because they
can. So, while these looters were mostly Black, the plain and simple of it
is that they chose to be looters whatever their skin colour happened to be.
So, I disagree with your assessment. I think it is correct to call a looter
a looter.

Sure there's crime in Jamaica. Any country that has a law probably has some
crime. But generally, the people of Jamaica govern themselves and for the
most part the people of Jamaica are Black. Which proves that Blacks are
perfectly capable of governing themselves.
Applied to New Orleans, what this means is that these looters are *choosing*
to loot. It doesn't matter that they are black white red or green. They are
looters plain and simple. It's not because Master is away and they can't
control themselves because they are Black. It's because they choose to loot
[and their skin colour has nothing to do with it].

Jamaica didn't have a Black prime minister until 1992.
Since that time, crime and violence have increased exponentially.

A lot of them stayed to have all-night "hurricane parties" in the French
Quarter. We got to watch those wild parties, with music and booze, live
on TV.
Having said that, for the Mayor to have allowed those wild parties to go
on all night like it was Mardi Gras, sent the wrong signal to the other
citizens--that if you could party all night, then maybe this hurricane
ain't so bad after all.
The Mayor should have sent the cops to close down the French Quarter and
send the revelers home. That drastic step would have sent the RIGHT
signal--this is the real thing and it's time to evacuate.

So they were warned. After the govt lied us into the iraq war how
can you trust them to tell the truth about anything. A lot of people
stayed because they thought the warnings were more BS.
Bush and Cheney have created a culture of distrust and doubt and skepticism
of governement, especially of the Federal government and White House. They
acted like the boy who cried wolf over WMDs in Iraq in order to carry out
their designs on the Iraqi oil fields, and now on one believes a word they
say. Anyway, many of the people left behind were the poor and elderly who
had no means to leave and nowhere to go if they did leave.
