State Police will not say if the investigation will reach into Bracke's
employment with social services, however, an attorney for the department
issued a statement to WAVY.com.
The county's social service department is "disturbed by the most recent
charges against Bracke," Andrea Erard wrote in an email, "the agency
will cooperate fully with the investigation and prosecution of these
charges."
One of Bracke's former neighbors said he was a quiet man who never had
any trouble.
Kevin Walker said investigators questioned him about the case since
Walker and friends often visited Bracke's house. "It's mind blowing,
because we used to hang out over there," Walker told WAVY.com.
Bracke is being held without bond at the Middle Peninsula Regional
Security Center. He is due in court next week to face the felony charges.

A former Middlesex County child protective services employee is indicted
on sexual crimes against a minor. Court officials say 61 year old Arthur
Bracke faces 10 separate charges.
The indictments include four counts of aggravated sexual battery, four
counts of indecent liberties by a person in a supervisory relationship,
one attempted aggravated sexual battery and one count of attempted
indecent liberties.
A Middlesex County detective tells WAVY.com , Bracke served as a CPS
caseworker in Middlesex County for at least 21 years. It is not clear if
the charge is related to Bracke's employment with the county. Nearly
three decades ago, Bracke started a boy's home called New Beginnings in
Newport News. The home eventually moved to Middlesex County.
According to a news release, Bracke has been under investigation by the
Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Chesapeake Field
Office since November 2007. It says the indictments stem from acts
committed by Bracke during the summer and fall of 2007. Bracke's victims
were minor boys under the age of 13.
Bracke is currently being held on other charges in the Middle Peninsula
Regional Security Center in Saluda, VA. where he's been in jail since
the middle of last November on arson and attempted murder charges.
Investigators say Bracke set fire to his Mill Wharf Road home with his
adopted son inside. Bracke was taken into custody November 17th after a
car crash near Baltimore. He was charged with DUI and carrying concealed
weapons.
Bracke is being held without bond at the Middle Peninsula Regional

citizens of this country hold CPS to the same standards that they hold
parents too. No judge should ever put another child in the hands of ANY
government agency because CPS nationwide is guilty of more harm and
death than any human being combined. CPS nationwide is guilty of more
human rights violations and deaths of children then the homes from which
they were removed. When are the judges going to wake up and see that
they are sending children to their death and a life of abuse when
children are removed from safe homes based on the mere opinion of a
bunch of social workers.
