Former top commander in Iraq sez America is caught in "a nightmare with no end in sight." |
And we have Bush and his neo-fascists to thank for it. They should line them
up at the Hague until every last one of them has paid for their blood

in sight'

ARLINGTON, Va. - The former top commander of U.S. troops in Iraq slammed the
handling of the war and gave a bleak assessment of the current situation in
Iraq.
"There is no question that America is living a nightmare with no end in
sight," retired Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez told a convention of military
journalists on Friday.
Sanchez commanded U.S. troops in Iraq from June 2003 to July 2004. His
controversial tenure saw the capture of Saddam Hussein and the handover of
sovereignty to the Iraqi government, but also the rise of the insurgency and
the Abu Ghraib prison scandal.

Iraq war was illegal and breached UN charter, says Annan
Ewen MacAskill and Julian Borger in Washington
Thursday September 16, 2004
The Guardian
The United Nations secretary general, Kofi Annan, declared explicitly for
the first time last night that the US-led war on Iraq was illegal.
Mr Annan said that the invasion was not sanctioned by the UN security
council or in accordance with the UN's founding charter. In an interview
with the BBC World Service broadcast last night, he was asked outright if
the war was illegal. He replied: "Yes, if you wish."
