Four US soldiers were killed across Iraq over the past two days in three
separate roadside bomb explosions, the US military announced Tuesday.
A marine was killed Monday during combat near Ramadi, 100
kilometresmiles) west of Baghdad, when his vehicle hit a roadside bomb.
In a second incident Monday, another soldier was killed in similar
fashion in the restive northern Iraqi town of Tal Afar, where US and
Iraqi forces are conducting a large-scale military offensive.
"A vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive in Tal Afar, one soldier
was killed in action," a military spokeswoman told AFP on Tuesday.
Two more soldiers were killed and two wounded early Tuesday when their
vehicle hit a roadside bomb in central Baghdad.
The soldiers were killed at around 10:00 am (0600 GMT) when "their
vehicle rolled over after striking an improvised explosive device," a
statement said.
The latest deaths bring US military losses in Iraq since the March 2003
invasion to at least 1,881, according to an AFP toll based on Pentagon
figures.
