That's right. Sarkozy, the candidate of bigotry, greed, spite and
mindless love of US militarism, is probably going to win.
Which means France will become a US colony and lose its dignity and

I am hearing that Sarkozy pledged to "clear the welfare rolls" (dole,

PARIS (Reuters) - Hundreds of people were arrested in France overnight in
clashes between police and protesters angry over conservative Nicolas
Sarkozy's victory in Sunday's presidential election, police said.
Official figures released on Monday said demonstrators set fire to 730 cars
and injured 78 policemen across France, with 592 people arrested in the
violent protests against the tough-talking former interior minister.
The tally was revised sharply upwards after an initial report appeared to
downplay the clashes and was at odds with local police figures and
eyewitness reports, which suggested widespread troubles in numerous French
cities.
Sarkozy made his name as a law-and-order hardliner who also tightened
France's immigration laws, making him a hate figure for the left. Slogans
spray-painted on the streets of Paris overnight included "Sarkozy fascist."
Leftist sympathizers clashed with police in and around Paris's Place de la
Bastille after Sarkozy's victory against Socialist Segolene Royal and
security forces fired tear gas and at least one burst of water cannon to
disperse the crowd.
Youths went on the rampage in adjoining streets, smashing phone cabins and
shop windows.
"Everyone got hit," said Sophie Wolkowitch, whose pharmacy suffered 14,000
euros ($19,000) of damage.
Similar attacks were reported in the southeastern city of Lyon and the
southern city of Toulouse. Bus shelters were smashed in the northern city of
Lille and a school was set on fire in the Paris suburb of Evry.
In the northern department clustered around Lille, about 100 cars were
torched, the fire brigade said.
In Nantes, 26 people were held for questioning and six police were slightly
injured after 1,000 people joined a march against Sarkozy in the western
city, said Yves Monard, head of public security of the Loire-Atlantique
department.
Cars and shop windows were also damaged in Nantes while to the northwest, in
Caen, four police were hurt and an attempt was made to set fire to the local
office of Sarkozy's UMP party.
Sarkozy is a particularly controversial figure in France's poor,
multi-ethnic suburbs, which were the epicenter of three weeks of rioting in
2005.
At the time Sarkozy branded the troublemakers as scum and Royal said last
week that a victory by her opponent would provoke violence in French
suburbs.
However, an internal police memo obtained by Reuters said there was no
large-scale trouble there.
"The second round of the presidential election did not generate any large
demonstrations of urban violence in sensitive neighborhoods," said the memo.
It added that the level of violence was above that usually seen on July 14
Bastille Day, France's national holiday, "but below that of New Year's
celebrations."
Police say on an average just over 100 cars are set ablaze in France each
night.

Well, every country "evolves" over time. The "Britishness" they
hoped Thatcher would restore, well, it's rather like American
nostalgics who want to "go back to the 50s". Been there, done
that, moved on, can't go back. The past and the unique social
and political environment that comprised and sustained it no
longer exist.
England is going to have to live with lots of Indians and moslems.
France is going to have to live with lots of arabs. The USA is
going to have to live with lots of "Mexicans". The newcomers
WILL change the character of these nations somewhat. How much
and in what ways is the important questions - and it's a process
that CAN be controlled to some extent. Wide-open immigration
can be reduced to a managable flow, the unassimilated can be
better assimilated too.
The tremendous influx of euros - Irish, Poles, scandanavians etc -
into the USA during the 1800s did not destroy "American-ness". It
added certain things TO it but the "essential character" remained.
There was some point at which it became either too bothersome or
too un-PC to try and assimilate immigrants into US culture. This
created enclaves, physical and virtual, within the USA of alien
cultures intent on REMAINING alien. The immigrants were no longer
expected to compromise in favor of their new land, the USA was
supposed to bend over backwards to accomodate all of THEIR
particulars and peculiarities. That's when it went wrong and
immigration ceased to serve the USAs interests.
A more "nationalist" government in France that can remain strong
in the face of far-left criticism has a CHANCE of dealing with
the issues caused by immigration. It need not become "fascist"
about it, simply resolved to a few practical remedies. Two or
three generations on, all those arab immigrants can still be
'arabs', or they can be "Frenchmen of arabic heritage".
There's nothing wrong with being a Frenchman (aside from the
insufferable aire of superiority). French culture need NOT
surrender to a "better" culture. Yes, just as there are
America-haters in the USA who would have us believe that ANY
culture is "better" than our own I'm sure there's a parallel
segment in France that's convinced all things French or euro
deserve to perish. These are nutters who somehow remain
blind to just how HORRIBLE things are in many of those "better"
nations and cultures. They must be ignored. Wouldn't hurt to
throw rotten vegetables at them too :-)

myself." After a while the ***** started talking on its own. He would go in
without anything prepared and his ***** would ad-lib and toss the gags back at
him every time. Then it developed sort of teeth-like little raspy in-curving
hooks and start eating. He thought this was cute at first and built an act
around it, but the ***** would eat its way through his pants and start
talking on the street, shouting out it wanted equal rights. It would get
drunk, too, and have crying jags nobody loved it and it wanted to be kissed
same as any other mouth. Finally it talked all the time day and night, you
could hear him for blocks screaming at it to shut up, and beating it with
his fist, and sticking candles up it, but nothing did any good and the
***** said to him Its you who will shut up in the end. Not me. Because we
dont need you around here any more. I can talk and eat AND *****. After that
he began waking up in the morning with a transparent jelly like a tadpoles
tail all over his mouth. This jelly was what the scientists call un-D.T.,
Undifferentiated Tissue, which can grow into any kind of flesh on the human
body. He would tear it off his mouth and the pieces would stick to his hands
like burning gasoline jelly and grow there, grow anywhere on him a glob of
it fell. So finally his mouth sealed over, and the whole head would have
have amputated spontaneous - except for the EYES you dig. Thats one thing
the ***** COULDN'T do was see. It needed the eyes. But nerve connections
were blocked and infiltrated and atrophied so the brain couldnt give orders
any more. It was trapped in the skull, sealed off. For a while you could see
the silent, helpless suffer-ing of the brain behind the eyes, then finally
the brain must have died, because the eyes WENT OUT, and there was no more
feeling in them than a crabs eyes on the end of a stalk.
