Yesterday, the Supreme Court struck down (King) George Bush's 'presumed
authority' to just imprison anyone without rights or access to our legal
system. George had maintained that he could declare ANYONE, even a US
citizen, even on US soil, an 'enemy combatant' and imprison them forever
with no access to US courts.
Bush had maintained that HE had the right because HE said we were at war
(congress did not vote it), and HE was Commander in Chief.
Another way to put it was that our US Constitution DID NOT APPLY to Bush.
Fortunately, the court struck this down resoundingly 8 to 1.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Bush administration must regroup legally and
politically after the Supreme Court dealt a major setback to the
government's anti-terrorism tactics since the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
The high court refused to endorse the White House claim of authority to
seize and detain terrorism suspects and indefinitely deny access to
courts or lawyers while interrogating them.
