The Democrats FULLY FUNDING the Iraq War instead of STOPPING the War
like they PROMISED.

Democrats are LIARS.

Have you missed the 4+ years when W got everything he asked for?
Things weren't going any better then than now.
And, of course you are implying that this death is a result of a funding
shortfall. Nothing could be further from the truth and for you to say
that is callous and unpatriotic.
The time has come for an end to this incompetently managed war, and
as it took nearly 5 years to get to this low level, it will take a while
to responsibly shift directions. W should be doing that himself, but he
just wants to pass this fiasco off. Just like you guys are always
passing off responsibility to some imaginary democrat. Nothing is your
fault if you can shift it or deny it. History will see through all of
that bluster.
BTW, in Gates reply to Clintons request, he states that he is
actively involved in the planning of the withdrawal option. Sensible
guy to consider contingencies, we could have used him earlier. Also note
that no one on the Joint Chiefs was in favor of the surge, that came
from a right wing think stank.

We should stop our efforts in Iraq, "if" success is not important. So,
based on what you just said, why is success not important?

Jerry, why are we there in the first place? What made it so important that
we invaded Iraq and lost our way in Afghanistan? You got a good answer for
that?

I'm not necesarily in favor of stopping but in redirecting.
But you mention success as though that means something. W in Iraq is
only trying to avoid or at least delay defeat. Some people make a
convincing argument that success is not leaving, hence the lack of an
exit strategy.
Ever done any research on asymetrical warfare? The Big guys have a
poor track record. Particularly, like in Iraq, where the goal seems to
be trying to change the mindset of the enemy. The success rate for that
is dreary indeed. Ask the French.
So what does success mean to you? Frankly our reasons for being in
Iraq are murky and the chance of a happy outcome is shaded by this lack
of direction. The time when we could have changed direction is years
ago. I remember, and so should you, when reporters could roam the
country. Things then (for anyone that didn't have blinders on) were
going south. The refrain in that first year was that we were on the
wrong course but there was still time to turn it around. Iraqis were
saying that. No one says that now.
So, if you want to believe in someone (W) who has an absolutely
abysmal track record, then you are without hope.
Jeff
So,

based on what you just said, why is success not important?

You keep posting this same illogical ***** up, and you keep getting
slapped down with answers that prove what a clueless. neocon fool you
are.
Because the Iraq War *IS* lost. It was lost by W. Bush, the
Republicans, and by Americans who continued to supported them, after
their lies were discovered and revealed.
Success becomes unimportant when it is impossible. We've L*O*S*T!
It's Reality, jerk. Deal with it. The people of the United States of
American will soon have to as well.
A word for you:
VIETNAM.
You chickenhawks fucking *never* learn.

Nope.

Things weren't going any better then than now.

Wrong.

And, of course you are implying that this death is a result of a funding
shortfall.

Wrong.

History will see through all of that bluster.

History will remember that the Democrats PROMIED to END THE WAR.
History will remember that the DEMOCRATS LIED.
History will remember that the Democrats FULLY FUNDED the War.

BTW, in Gates reply to Clintons request, he states that he is actively
involved in the planning of the withdrawal option.

They plan for contingencies. That's what they do.

Also note that no one on the Joint Chiefs was in favor of the surge, that
came from a right wing think stank.

Kinda strange. eh?
Dems have been whining for 3 years we didn't START with enough troops.
Then things were getting worse and worse and worse.
Then when asked to provide MORE troops the Pentagon balks.
We didn't start with enough troops, things got worse and worse, the Pentagon
had no plan YET wanted NO MORE troops AND INSISTED on a 6-month performance
window.
Now we have more troops, we're seeing AN IMPROVEMENT, and the Pentagon
wantrs a LONGER PERFORMANCE WINDOW!!
Maybe this is why the Founding Father's put civilians in charge of the
Pentagon?
Can you explain why the Pentagon preferred to fight short-handed, lose, and
keep doing that forever?
