Higher Gas Prices Are Causing Financial Hardship
Forcing many lower-income consumers to cut back on food and other
necessities
by Dennis Jacobe
The new Experian/Gallup Personal Credit Index shows three in four
consumers say high energy prices are having a major impact on the
economy.
In fact, more than half say they are experiencing financial hardship
as a result of today's high gas prices.
While many consumers say they are cutting back on their other spending
in response to high gas prices, lower-income Americans are facing the
most draconian spending cuts -- those on food and other needs.

While I'm in agreement that gas prices are outrageous I think a lot of lower
income people have to look at some of the other things they call
neccesities. Elaborate cell phones, big screen TVs and XBox 360s are not
"necessities".

I suspect that the purveyors of those items are
beginning to feel some pain....

I think the attitude these days is that everyone, no matter how little they
make are entitled to EVERYTHING. I see people walk out of Best Buy with
thousands of dollars of equipment that are driving a smashed up junker.

Not in my neck of the woods.
More like Cadillac Escalades or of such nature.

The wealthiest man I ever knew, Jack Pyland, lived in a derelict motel
and drove a badly beaten '63 Buick.
Who was Jack Pyland? He was the man who introduced the Corn Dog to the
State Fair of Texas, and who had a monopoly interest in the Fair Park
food franchise -- Fletcher's Corn Dogs, Jack's French Fries, even the
Belgian Waffle stands.
He hit it even bigger with the "Sportatorium" which he turned into a
wrestling arena, with the perfect timing to be at the beginning of the
modern wrestling craze...
This man was unbelievably wealthy, and yet, to look at his "home" and
the other trappings of his life, one would assume he was a squatter
living in an abandoned building.
I am sure Jack is long gone, and his "motel" has been a vacant lot on
Fort Worth Avenue for quite a few years. I regret that I never thanked
him for his generosity in storing my '59 Chevy on his lot for free, when
one of my neighbors tried to have it taken away from me (for being a
"junk" vehicle.)

Yeah, who the ***** do they think they are, wanting some of the American
dream? After all they chose to be poor. When they finish their three jobs at
minimum wage, they should eat their gruel and go to bed. God bless us,
everyone! (You too, Ari, you piece of *****).
