Gas prices jump 11.5 cents in one week |
From USA TODAY, 5/21/07:
http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/energy/2007-05-21-gasoline-usat_N.htm?csp=34
Average gasoline price nears 1981 record $3.223
By James R. Healey, USA TODAY
The average price of gasoline hit $3.218 a gallon Monday, up a
stunning 11.5 cents the past week and just half a penny shy of the
inflation-adjusted record, the government reported.
Because gasoline prices are rising nearly everywhere, the U.S. average
is almost certain this week to pass the inflation-adjusted high of
$3.223, recorded in May 1981 by the U.S. Energy Information
Administration.
A gallon of gasoline cost an average $1.417 then, but that was
equivalent to $3.223 in today's dollars, according to EIA.
Prices in 1981 were pushed up as war broke out between Iran and Iraq.
Numerical records have been set daily since May 13, according to
travel organization AAA, which tracks prices every day.
But the average has been short of that inflation-adjusted number.
Cracking that psychological barrier will make the point finally and
firmly:
U.S. gasoline prices have never been higher.

This is not capitalism, this is robber-baron capitalism. This is what
happens when and industry has absolutely too much cash - they seek
political power and to line their own pockets at the expense of the
ordinary people.
That's why it's time to nationalize our oil companies. Right now.

Yup and it took 20 years to get another republican into the WH. Even then
he was a recently converted Democrat and the General who, "Won the War",
Eisenhower.

Yes and Eisenhower unlike these modern war mongering, anti-science, repug
nut cases did some progressive things like bring and end to the Korean war
and build the interstate highway system. He was a different kind of
Republican the likes of which we haven't seen in recent years.

Bingo.
These freakin' morons can't even seem to figure out why the rest of the
world hates us. Carter mentions the truth and the politicos and news
agencies go nuts. Ron Paul mentions the truth and the rightwingers want to
ban him from further public debate.
White is now defined as black. Black is defined as white.

You apparently don't read what other people write...
I already posted that my local gas prices went up 45 cents in two
weeks.
I also (yesterday) reported that the all time record has already been
broken (NPR yesterday'All Things Considered')
The question is... Is anyone going to stop this monopolized extortion?
