U.S.: Iraq political developments ‘discouraging’
Gates says ‘depth of mistrust’ among factions greater than anticipated
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates -
U.S. officials underestimated how difficult it would be for the Iraqi
government to pass political reforms, Defense Secretary Robert Gates
said Thursday, adding that the “depth of mistrust” among the factions
is greater than anticipated.
Talking to reporters on board his plane as he returned from a four-day
swing through the Middle East, Gates said he is more optimistic about
improvements in security in the wartorn nation than he is about
getting legislation passed by the bitterly divided government.
“In some ways we probably all underestimated the depth of the mistrust
and how difficult it would be for these guys to come together on
legislation,” Gates said.

WHy is this man still taken seriously?
Bill Kristol on April 4, 2003:
"There's been a certain amount of pop sociology in America ... that the Shia
can't get along with the Sunni and the Shia in Iraq just want to establish
some kind of Islamic fundamentalist regime. There's almost no evidence of
that at all. Iraq's always been very secular."

... because his father architected the entire philosophy that
Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld, and Wolfowitz live by. Only the
Bush criminal hegemony takes Kristol seriously.

Thanks for that!
Anything else out of the Neo Con fantasy bag? I was trying to track
down some of the WSJ editorials earlier as we know they have been
relying on the same nonsense but came up empty (guess I'd have to
subscribe).
