Object: Georgia provides a good example for US elections
The former Soviet state of Georgia is an excellent example of
democracy in action.
It provides the US with a perfect example of how a candidate with the
MAJORITY vote should be elected to the presidency..

All right, so why don't you just come out and say it. The more sparsely
populated parts of America are marginalized enough in the current system.
But you'd like to go ahead with a straight majority vote, i.e. the populous
states dominate the rural/farming states 100%. Fortunately, the founding
fathers had more foresight than you do. The electoral college system is
unlikely to change anytime soon, any more than the Senate is to be dissolved
into the House, and for the same reasons.

The day they want a uncontrolable crowd to march on the WH, drag out dubya,
and ride him out of DC on a rail, give me a call.

You get your chance in less than 1 year to try a Constitutional
method to change leadership in DC.
It would be interesting to see a individual so brave posting under a
alias leading the charge to the White House to "drag out dubya"
You will be leading the charge right?

I think our system is OK. But when the oddness of one having the electoral
vote without the popular vote, I think the loser should be vice president

No, in spite of the myth and hype, the Constitution works just exactly
as the clever founding fathers intended. Victory by election was
intended to sway the nation in a particular direction. The check &
balances in the system are already implemented by the Constitution
(Congress). All the tools are there, and is why we have a President
today. Not a single bullet was fired.
Don't try to fix what ain't broke. Yes, the last election challenged
the Constitution - but it sustained the challenge without flaw. What we
need to take away from that experience is the comfort that it is a
strong Constitution, and that it is extremely functional, and requires
no overhaul, or panic.

I think sometimes, some people ooze a little to much respect for the
"founding fathers". They were mortal human beings living in exciting times.
You might be surprised how good health and motivation can help with
creativity. The framers of our constitution might appear almighty to people
who are fat, lazy, and just plain unmotivated.

Well as a function of the efforts of those mortal founding-fathers, this
nation over the past 300 years has become the world's dominant nation
based on a chemistry that affords us the ability to be dominant while
"fat, lazy, and just plain unmotivated", as you put it.
Not a bad legacy - certainly an even greater effort yielding the world's
richest and only dominant superpower.

I think a better explanation for our greatness, as a good and very old
friend of the family mentioned to me the other day. Our United States was
made from scratch, of many strong people with good ideas from other places.
It wasn't/isn't just the government, it is the whole mix, including our
innovative ways of doing things in private life as well.

Are you suggesting that a mob of Democrats should seize control of the US
Congress?

But thank godness we have a Constitution, that has afforded us a form of
Government that places us at the top of the world. Why adopt yet
another failed experiment from that old-world continent!?
