Object: Gift from YOU: $100,000 per hour for GOP
Our elected government officials work for us, don't they? On Friday,
during the business day, Vice-President "Quick Draw" Cheney flew into
Indianapolis on political business for the GOP, at enormous expense to
the American public. Cheney spent only one hour in town, flying in
only to bag some quick cash for Republicans. He avoided reporters and
the public at the airport, not even glancing or waving at the bank of
TV cameras on hand for his arrival, and was driven directly to the
private Columbia Club reserved for Republicans only. Reporters and the
public were not allowed. No public business was conducted, no
reporters were allowed to cover any aspect of the visit, and there was
no press release. The onlysign the public saw of the vice president's
visit was the yellow tape strung around the northeast quadrant of
Monument Circle to keep them from walking or driving near the club.
Cheney used the public's workday, employees, airplane and expense to
quickly snatch $100,000 for the Republican Party.

That should have been front page news and on the evening network news,
including thorough coverage by The PBS News Hour.

Doesn't this seem improper to other taxpayers out there? I mean, he
didn't even pretend to be working... he ignored the press and the
public, despite utilizing the public's resources at great expense, and
he's getting a salary to spend his Friday from us for this?!

But they have to be more secure since 911 ... :)
