Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, the architect of Bush's torture is legal
policy, also crafted the legal opinion that domestic spying without search
warrants is legal.
In his speech, Gonzales cited the country's "long tradition of wartime enemy
surveillance," often without warrants, offering historical precedents such
as George Washington's interception of mail between the British and
Americans.
Now for the facts:
At the time Washington was not President.
At the time the U.S. was not a country.
At the time there was no 4th Amendment.
At the time there was no Constitution prohibing such behavior.
I wonder how many idiots listen to Hannity, O'Reilly and Limbaugh repeat
this trash and think "It must be legal if George Washington did it?"
On the other hand blue staters are insulted.
