GOP justice: Illegal immigrants rounded up while Ken Lay et al enjoy their loot |
This "admministration" has surpassed all expectations of greatness New
milestones are reached every day. The latest achievement is setting
our priorities straight. So the swarthy brown poor slobs from South
America toiling for a minimum wage, if they are lucky to get that
much, they are rounded up en mass and sent back to enjoy their
squalor in their native lands.
Meanwhile Ken Lay, Jeff Skilling, all the brokers who suckered their
customers into buying the dotcom crap are all out and about living
large off of the fortunes they looted from investors, workers and
retirees.
The moral of the story of course is if you're gonna break the law make
sure you do it big and make sure you profit enough to afford the
kickbacks to the GOP that will keep you out of jail.

I've always said -- if you want the illegal immigrants to stay and work then
make them legal. If not, then give them the boot. The illegal worker pool
is a significant drain on the labor market. Dont tell me that US citizens
wouldnt want to do that work because they would, if only it wasn't paying
essentially slave-labor wages.

The drain on the labor market are the leeches like Ken Lay, Berie
Ebbers and ***** Cheney who are literally robbing America of its

meat processing plant clamoring to make a career out of plucking
chickens for $5.15/hour before taxes.
If there was a fair labor market for these jobs (no illegal immigrants) then
the wages would naturally float to the place where they were fair and
competitive. That's how (free) markets work.
William how can you be so hypocritical as to stand for these illegal
immigrants so-called rights but not stand for allowing them legal status??
They are essentially slave labor since they have no option to negotiate
salary. Are you really ok with that? Or are you just about bashing the
repubs no matter what the issue? That would make you no better than.
In any case, if you hire illegal workers dont whine about it when the cops
break in your doors. Thats their job, and I for one appreciate it.

If there was a fair labor market for these jobs (no illegal immigrants) then

On a theoretical level, how can you be for free markets while you're
in favor of restricting labor??? On the other hand you have to
consider that if there were no illegal immigrants then a lot of the
plants that employ them now would be sent abroad along with whatever

wares of those plants.

Yeah but what about the illegal immigrants.
They were aware of and accepted that risk when they chose to break the law.
Giving illegals the means to live here illegally is not the solution. If
you truly want to help them, then make them legal.

Americans simply do not want to be out picking berries in the fields.
Also, if you were to pay enough to make people want to be busboys,
dishwashers, etc., we would experience inflation within our economy to
the point that jobs which currently pay a decent wage would be totally
inadequate.

Did you know that most migrant workers were white during the
Steinbeck era? Later, they were a mix of white and black.
