Judge tells Rep. Smith to give up state office
Campaign laws were broken, ruling says

The Arizona Republic
In what is believed to be a national first, a judge on Wednesday
ordered an Arizona lawmaker to leave office for breaking the state's
campaign-finance law.
The ruling by Judge Mark Aceto of Maricopa County Superior Court
upheld the state Clean Elections Act, which calls for the removal of
legislators who overspend their public campaign-financing limits.
The judge determined that Rep. David Burnell Smith, R-Carefree, is
holding office illegally because he overspent to win his tightly
contested 2004 Republican primary.
Smith was given two weeks to file an appeal.
After that, he will be out of office unless an appellate judge rules
otherwise.
Smith is believed to be the first legislator in the nation to be
ordered out of office by a method other than impeachment or recall.

Nice. One item in my Presidential campaign is to sue the Fed to exclude
Florida from the Electoral College until JEB is out of office.
Ohio needs some Quiet Time too.
