Object: Have a happy and merry December 25
Today, as the world pauses on the birthday of one of history's greatest
men, whose teachings continue to benefit the entire human race,
let us join in toasting the memory of Sir Isaac Newton, and of all
the giants on whose shoulders he stood.

as an aside.....
i may hate myself in the morning for bringing this up on xmas day of
all days but xmas was a holy day in mitraism (5th century bc) and when
it merged with the younger christianity (ad), christianity took on
many of their holidays...on december 25th believers rang bells, hymns
were sung, candles lit, sacraments of bread and water
administered....gifts were also given...and there was a promise of
immortality as well...... no xmas tree however.....then along came
eastra or as we know it easter.....mitra the sun god had his holy day
on SUNday...mitrhras was described by them as "the way"...."the
truth"...."the light"...."son of god"....and also the "good
shepherd".......he also represented as carrying a lamb on his
shoulders....his virgin mother was isis......all of the above however
does not take away from the wisdom that jesus imparted....they
appeared to be a good match and why christianity spread...
but this will not prevent me from wishing all a merry xmas.....
and of course a happy birthday to sir newton as well............and
all of the giants that preceded him...

It was, it seems, a way to substitute holidays for the 'pagan' ones
that already existed. Is it a coincidence that the US elections were
held on "Dia de los muertos", a holiday for the dead in Mexico. I
think not. A fitting time for the morally dead and those who fight
against that.

We primate folk need our stories, and we need
to practice them so they become our experienced
reality. Without our practiced stories, the situation
is meaningless.
Greetings to all primate folk!

Really?! There are books published by him, and plenty of letters

I never experienced any HATRED while studying his work.
I guess I hate it when something heavy drops on my foot.

there is no physical scientific evidence that he ever existed at all --

Who are you talking about? Newton was born on Jan 4 1643.

Well maybe not - some sources cite the 25 of Dec 1642.
Ahh -
"Isaac Newton was born in the manor house of Woolsthorpe, near Grantham in
Lincolnshire. Although by the calendar in use at the time of his birth he
was born on Christmas Day 1642, we give the date of 4 January 1643 in this
biography which is the "corrected" Gregorian calendar date bringing it into
line with our present calendar. (The Gregorian calendar was not adopted in
England until 1752.) Isaac Newton came from a family of farmers but never
knew his father, also named Isaac Newton, who died in October 1642, three
months before his son was born. Although Isaac's father owned property and
animals which made him quite a wealthy man, he was completely uneducated and
could not sign his own name."

I am posting from soc.culture.jewish and people are constantly flaming our
newsgroup with messages about jesus and "being saved".
