Hezbollah: Israel Lobby & Jewsmedia Keep Politicians In Line |
Three Canadian politicians went to Lebanon on a fact finding mission.
They witnessed the facts. They saw the destruction of the civilian
infrastructure inflicted by Israel and notice the good work of
Hezbollah. Two of the politicians declared that it was a mistake to
consider Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.
But when they got home they were confronted by a campaign against their
position orchestrated by the powerful Israel lobby. They quickly caved
in. Then the Jewsmedia did its part. They featured the politicians
revised position to ensure that not too many Canadians saw Hezbollah
the way the majority of the world's population do.
So the Jewsmedia's characterization of Hezbollah as a "militant group"
will be repeated at every opportunity.
The greatest threat to Canadian wellbeing is the powerful Israel lobby.
Look what they have done to the USA.

# All religious groups and nation states act in defence of their own
interests, and such deeds can seem entirely logical and just - in their own
eyes.
Israel's onslaught on Lebanon was unfortunately massive because Hezbollah
was so entrenched in Lebanese society that much infrastructure destruction,
and civilian casualties, were inevitable; if Hezbollah's capacity for
mischief was to be rooted out - so Israelis could sleep in peace. Whether
this aim has been achieved, or exacerbated, is another matter.
Hezbollah may want the destruction of Israel, as such, but it is more
than merely a militant body; it has always had a social aspect, a supportive
function of its members and of society. As such it can be seen as a
legitimate part of Lebanon, not necessarily as some illegal "state within a
state". While it may receive aid from outside (eg. Iran), this doesn't mean
it is merely a puppet of Iran.
In the Middle East, continued friction and tendency to warfare will
prevail until unresolved issues are addressed, and a solution found, eg. the
displaced and "homeless" Palestinian population.
Of course, if extremists on either side, whether Zionists or
uncompromising Islamists, wont allow this, then no lasting peace is
possible - except that as decided by Might is Right. And to that there can
be one winner, or none. Peace is currently merely the interval between
wars.
However, every nation, whether Israel, Lebanon, Syria, or Iran, has a
right to arm and defend itself. If this leads to pre-emptive strikes, by
whatever side against another, then such is just too bad.
True peace needs justice for all, and mutual goodwill, but that's a long
way off.

It is definitely not "another matter". It sounds almost acceptable for
Israel to launch a "massive onslaught" to root out Hezbollah and allow
Israelis to sleep in peace. However, it was obvious from the start
that even if Israel killed everybody in Lebanon Hezbollah would not
only survive, it would prosper.
Politicians everywhere attempt to exploit our fears by telling us that
we must do something immoral because it will keep us safe. The _first_
question we should ask is "Will it be effective?".
