Anyone living in a blue (metro) state on the following maps (2-1 and =
2-2) voting republican is a fool:
"In the last decade of the 20th century, with about 65 percent of the =
population, Metro America produced almost 70 percent of the U.S. gross =
domestic product annually and paid 71 percent of the federal taxes. In =
that same decade, Retro America received $800 billion more in federal =
payments than it paid in taxes. Meanwhile, the 23 Metro states =
(excluding federal enclave states Maryland and Virginia) paid $1.4 =
trillion more in taxes than they received back from the federal =
government. All told, Retro America enjoyed a tax-versus-payments =
advantage of $2.2 trillion over Metro America. As the saying goes, a =
trillion here and a trillion there, and pretty soon you're talking about =
real money."

That's why they're Republicans now. Republicans don't serve America unless
there's a profit in it for them. They realize they've got the subsidies,
whether it's mining, logging, agribusiness. Look at Sen Stevens of Alaska, a
prime example.

Why don't you do it by Zipcode, have Metro Zipcode, and Retro Zipcode?
Why don't you do it by Area code, have Metro Area code, and Retro Area code?
What happened to Suburban and "not quite rural" America?
Does "generalization" lead to Metro or Retro baloney statistics?

Why don't you do it by Zipcode, have Metro Zipcode, and Retro Zipcode?

Why? Do you have a senators/congressmen per zipcode, or per state? How is
electoral college working? Per zipcode?

Why don't you do it by Area code, have Metro Area code, and Retro Area

code?
Most industries in blue states are high tech and industrialized mainly
because of the urban markets and a supply of trained professionals from
colleges which again tend to be in these areas because scools also tend to
be better in more densely populated places. So both supply and demand for
value added goods and services are abundant in these areas. They vote
democrat because they depend on strong schoolsystem, federally funded R&D
and a diverse/tolerant population of professionals....not fundametalists who
teach their kids bible instead of math and chemistry.

What happened to Suburban and "not quite rural" America?

Does "generalization" lead to Metro or Retro baloney statistics?

Most of the wealth is generated by businesses which are located in Metro
area, hence the tax allocations, unless of course you are in the Virgin
Islands!
