Srinagar, May 18(KMS): Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) said,
there has been a significant increase in the human rights abuses after
people boycotted the so-called parliamentary elections in occupied
Kashmir.
"The level of abuses is extremely grave. Different Indian forces
agencies including Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force,
Border Security Force and Indo-Tibetan Border Police have let a reign
of terror in their respective areas. This has taken off the veil from
the so-called healing touch slogan", JKLF spokesman said. He said not
only in far-off villages but in urban areas as well the incidents of
killings, harassment, searches and arrests continue. He said the
process of arrests continue unabated in Batmaloo locality of Srinagar
where dozens of people have been arrested. The spokesman said there
were demonstrations in the area and the women protestors were beaten
by police in retaliation. Their clothes were also torn down and a
number of them were injured, he said.
The JKLF spokesman said Indian forces opened fire at cricket playing
youth at Ganopora, Shopian in which one youth was killed. "Basically
not even a single vote was cast in the area during re-poll. Such
violations are an outcome of the frustration due to success of poll
boycott", he said. At Kellar, Pulwama, he said, forces molested three
women and beat several men after they boycotted polls. "There was a
demonstration in Pulwama as well and police has already lodged an FIR,
but no action is being taken", he said. The JKLF has urged the
international human rights groups to intervene.
