HUGE EARTHQUAKE EXPECTED ANY TIME IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA |
Libs have really turned the world around, haven't they?
First they're immorality brought Katrina, now California set
to fall off into the ocean.
Thanks Libs.

An example of right wing stupidity. There is a huge difference between sin
and a hurricane.

How is the Libs' fault? The southern section of the quake, which is
where the Big One is supposedly about to happen, goes through the
Republican part of California.
The last few big quakes in California actually seem to have targeted
conservatives and spared liberals anyway, which seems odd given that
God is a Republican :-)
The 1994 Northridge Earthquake struck before dawn on Martin Luther King
Day-- which I suppose could be viewed as a pro-Republican gesture on
the Deity's part-- but the timing did reduce the loss of life. And,
for whatever it's worth, it did hit the least liberal neighborhoods in
the City of Los Angeles: it hit the Valley hard while sparing the West
Side and Hollywood. The Sylmar Quake back in 1971 also hit the Valley
while sparing the rest of the city.
The 1989 "World Series Quake" did relatively little damage to the "gay"
neighborhoods while devastating nearby conservative areas.
And if you wanna talk about Katrina, the hurricane itself inexplicably
only sideswiped New Orleans, doing its worst damage to the Gulf Coast
of Mississippi--- a state whose governor is a former RNC chairman! The
worst damage to New Orleans was done by the floods which followed the
levee break--- and oddly the gay neighborhoods were the only part of
the city NOT destroyed by Katrina!

Been hearing this since I first heard of California. Literally. It's
the first thing I ever knew about California, that the "Big One" is
overdue. That's been close to 50 years already.

I live in Southern California. I have been in Earthquakes of 6.6, 7.3,
6.5, and 6.7. I wonder what they think the big one will be.

Yeah, went through a couple of those. Just know the drill and keep stuff
from falling on your head and your fine. Nice old wood frame house is
the best thing to live in. Put in some extra stores and dig a latrine in
the back yard. Cook on your wood or charcoal BBQ grill. Keeping the beer
cold is kinda tough unless you have a generator.

Maybe 9.2 and last for 5 minutes like the one I experienced in Alaska
in 1964.
We got aftershocks bigger than the ones you mention.
So there.

Hopefully, it will happen within the next two and a half years. We can
blame it on Bush.
Actually, even after he leaves office, we can still cobble together
some global warming effect slant and still blame Bush. That's the
beauty.

Already been done, the rising sea levels and melting ice sheets/galciers are
over-stressing the tectonic plates -- more numerous and powerful
earthquakes.
Those Global Warmers, they've got a answer for everything.

And in spite building (and re-building) a city on top of a known fault
that has a very good chance of sending their city in to the pacific
these people will complain that the fed govt didn't do enough to
protect them, evacuate them, save them and at the end of the day they
will demand that the govt to bail them out. And once that all takes
hold guess where they will re-build...again?

You're an idiot. Southern California has never had to be "rebuilt" because
of earthquakes. Every 10 or 20 years a few building collapse, some are
damaged and 50 or 60 people die. If you think that's reason enought to
abandon one of the most popular places in the country, you truly are a
moron.

Who said anything about abandoning it? Once it ends up in the ocean I
doubt it will be "popular" any longer. Having said that, you haven't
refuted my point. We don't have to look very far (New Orleans) to see
that I'm right.

So. California quake? Not soon. But I'm expecting moderate seismic
activity for alaska vicinity very soon. Current forecast window: Sept
2006 to April 2007. Hopefully deep, and broken in multiple quakes
rather than one big one and away from populated areas.
I plot seismic data and plot it on charts. Then I use arcs to forecast
tops and bottoms of cycles. Momentum occurs when the current upcycle is
currently down. Seismically speaking, this is when stress is building.
Arcs are very accurate when read properly.
Good luck,
Steve
