Hypocrites; President Reagan also signed Amnesty Bill |
Those fringe right wing talk show hosts and
other Bigots are Hypocrites; President Reagan
also signed Amnesty Bill, but given a pass.
Mike Reagan, President Reagan's son among
others have been spouting off about Republicans
who signed the Immigration Bill; but not mentioning
that President Reagan also signed a "Amnesty"
Bill when he was in office but is rarely criticized for
that. Hypocrites.

Sorry, but it's not as simple as that. Reagan's bill was not just an
amnesty - it included provisions to beef up border security and extra
fines against employers. The point was, conservatives believed it
would be a "one time only" deal to finally handle the problem.
Unfortunately, the sanctions were largely ignored by future
governments, and illegal immigration only increased. If he had to do
it over again, he probably would have done it differently. Basically,
Reagan was wrong, but it was from good intentions. He was wrong
because he actually decided to trust the Mexicans; he gave them a
gift, and they totally threw it back in his face. So this time,
conservatives are much more skeptical. I think most would even agree
to a complete amnesty if it really meant the problem was done forever
and the border was really under control. But without a completely
sealed border, the history has now shown us that any hint of amnesty
will only increase the flow from south to north.

show of good faith to the deal he made with Miguel de la Madrid in
Cancun in 1981 and start the mass so-called "immigration"?
Reagan's "amnesty" was un-Constitutional---still is.

In Don's version, Reagan is a traitor. But don't worry about
Alcibiades at al. complaining and coming in the defense of their God.
As long as Don Gaba spews fury against all latinoamericanos, he is Ok
(even by Queenie).
