Object: I don't agree with Bush's recess appointment of Pickering but didn't Clinton get in a few of his own?
I seem to recall that Bill Clinton used this "privilege" during his
term in office. I didn't agree with the concept at that time and
don't agree with Bush using it as well.
This is just one executive privilege that needs to be eliminated.
Another is executive orders, which give presidents to maintain their
bully pulpit.
But what is good for the goose is good for the gander. If
Clinton did in fact use the recess appointment during his term the
Democrats cannot now complain when Shrub has done it.

Bush is by no means the first president to use a recess appointment. Former
President Clinton used a recess appointment for a homosexual activist and
philanthropist, James Hormel, as ambassador to Luxembourg, among numerous
others to various posts, including at least one judge to a federal appeals
court, who otherwise would have required Senate confirmation
.
