IBM to create 15000 new jobs. |
From The BBC, 1/19/04:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/3409033.stm
Most of the new positions will be created in developing economies such
as China and India, where the company is already exporting 3,000 US
jobs in an effort to cut costs.

You can't blame companies. They are amoral fictions that act to
maximise profit.
If you want them to behave, you must either:
1. make it illegal to misbehave.
2. offer them financial incentives to behave.
3. offer them financial disincentives for misbehaving.
The government has done NOTHING to slow this sudden hemorrhage of high
tech jobs to offshore outsourcing. In the least there should be some
relief to those affected to help them retrain, or measures to avoid
sudden massive layoffs which dump thousands of people at once into the
job market that cannot quickly absorb them.

1. make it illegal to misbehave.
With REAL penalties, like banning their products from our markets, or
imprisoning companies that allow for high-tech to be exported, similar
to how we "supposable" try those who export "munitions" for treason.
2. offer them financial incentives to behave.
No, we don't offer "good citizenship" bonuses to all the law abiding
citizens of the nation, we incarcerate or hand out death sentences to
criminals.
3. offer them financial disincentives for misbehaving.
Banning a misbehaving corporation from our markets provides the
strongest incentive, you want cheap Indian or chin esse labor, fine
sell your products in China/India. Your CEO can make a wopping 15k,
30k with stock options. I hope you love China/India as much as the
American workers do now.
The government has done NOTHING to slow this sudden hemorrhage of high
tech jobs to offshore outsourcing.
If Democrats were serious(the republicans are not) they would recruite
collage grads in engineering or computer science to campaign for them,
how they, their parents, and the nation in the form of financial aid
invested in education, only so greedy corporate executives could
outsource the jobs.
Strong, strong statement against the globalists and free traders,
watch a group of greedy fucks wreck out nation, sell out our future,
waste our tax dollars, and lie to the american public (the whole
"Sally from Chicago" turning out to be "shiva from Bangalor" does
wonders in killing any credibility)
In the least there should be some
relief to those affected to help them retrain.
Oh no, we bought the whole "retraining" lie of the past 20 years long
enough, retraining is a sham and waste of tax dollars.
Protectionism, shareholders have to learn life is HARD, NO free money
just for investing, you want money? Have to go out and earn it the
hard way.
Republicans and their "ownership" mentality has reached the absurd
levels, maybe even achieving insanity, at which point we can get all
the free traders/globalists locked up for posing a public health
threat to others.
Oh wait, the "companionate" conservatives dismantled the mental health
system, sux to be them, they have to live out the rest of their live
either in a prison cell or card board box.
, or measures to avoid
sudden massive layoffs which dump thousands of people at once into the
job market that cannot quickly absorb them.
In a healthy economy, protected from offshoring, this is a normal
economic phenomena, abeit painful. There are alot of dumb companies
run by dumb people that have no business being in business, force them
out of the market. Sure it will be painful for a short while, but
when recovery happens, those who lost jobs will be better off than
before.
Unlike today where EEs are now working at Best Buy.
Bush is DOOMED. You can only buy 1% of the vote, the top 1% we all
love to hate:P

*****. They been saying that since the first day of Ronnie Raygun. Yes,
the republicans do create a few very rich people like ***** Cheney but the vast
majority are poorer after a republican administration.
