Object: Impertinent Question # 136
Everyone knows that Saddam Hussein is being tried because the
US decided that he should be tried. But does anyone remember WHY ?
Is it because he carried out a 'shock and awe' attack against OUR
capitol in Washington ? Is it because he dropped tons of depleted
uranium on American targets in the US ? Is it because he used
chemical weapons such as white phosphor on American troops? Is it
because he carried out torture of American prisoners captured in battle
? Is it because he destroyed roads, water supplies and electric
plants in the US which have still not been restored ? Is it
because he killed thousands of innocent American citizens ? Or is he
being tried simply because we have the power to do so and the Iraqis
don't have the power to resist ? Is this just another move
guaranteed to inflame Muslim hatred of the US, perpetuate and expand
the war and satisfy the neocon / zionists in their effort to lock the
US into a series of never ending wars? How does this trial serve the
interests of the US ?

It has the reward that the US is a player in the world.
A knee-jerk half-arse self-conceited jock, but a player.
