We prosecuted Lyddie Englund (not George Bush) for mistreatment of
prisoners in Abbu Graib prison. Why do we prosecute Saddam Husein for
actions carried out by his underlings ? Is it because we think the
Iraqi people are too stupid to recognize the discrepancy here ? And
that they won't know a double standard of justice when they see one ?
Why are we giving the Iraqi people this reason to hold our system of
freedom and democracy in contempt? As if our alliance with the
dictatorships in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and Egypt and elsewhere were
not reason enough.
