Object: impertinent Question # 160
Why is the Pentagon pretending they can win in Iraq by finding
and eliminating half a dozen key insurgents. All the evidence suggests
we are creating five new insurgents for every one we kill. And every
Iraqi insurgent knows how to use a rat trap to trigger an artillery
shell with a tug on a mono-filament line located fifty yards away. Why
won't the Pentagon admit they have been boxed into a corner where
they have only the two choices they were faced with in Vietnam :
A. Total genocide of the Iraqi people.
B. Go home

All the evidence?? Troop fatalities in th past year increased by one,
count 'em one over the previous year...injuries dropped 25%.
There are fewer attacks on US soldiers than the previous year...there
is also evidence that the Iraqis are fighting the outside terrorists,
too.
If you're going to make up your own dream world, go right ahead. But
please realize that facts are stubborn things.

We're into our third year of war. Our casualties number close to
19000. Many soldiers are maimed for life in a war WE chose against a
nation that did not want war and never attacked us. We attacked THEM on
the basis of false information. And suffered over 90% of our casualties
since the fall of Baghdad and the 'Mission Accomplished' banner
went up. And you're applauding because our death rate remains
essentially the same? That's not progress. It's called stalemate.
Either we grind them to a fine gray powder or else we pack it in and go
home. Those are the two choices. Pick one. Yes, there are a few Iraqis
who support us but the vast majority hate us and want us OUT. And that
includes our puppet government, bought and paid for by US tax dollars..
And what will we leave behind ? A blood soaked mess and almost
certainly a civil war. Plus a world of once friendly allies which has
turned bitterly hostile against us.
Have a nice day.

Wonderful! At that rate, in 10 years only a mere 9,945 additional
fatalities instead of the 10,000 we were expecting.

You apparently learned your history from the MacDonald's hamburger
school, where everything is served in five minutes.
