Object: Impertinent Question # 168
State of the Union messages are invariably boring because a president,
for some reason, believes he must at least mention EVERY issue, touch EVERY
base, bow to EVERY special interest group and suggest that he's on top of
EVERY problem the country is likely to face. What are the chances that the
president will pleasantly surprise us by NOT turning his speech into simply
another Chinese laundry list of items he will immediately ignore when the
speech ends ? What are the chances he will really address the real state of
the union ?
