Impertinent Question # 195 |
Everyone knows that Rumsfeld's "Shock and Awe" program shocked and awed
no one. Everyone knows that Rumsfeld's "Transformation" program aimed at
producing a leaner, meaner armed force sent us into Iraq without enough men
to get the job done. Why does no one focus on the most serious Rumsfeld
failure: ? Failure to anticipate, train for, and produce a plan for dealing
with an urban guerilla force who have taken the initiative, are running
rings around our troops, and striking at will, knowing that (as in
Vietnam) time is on their side and that eventually we will have to leave in
defeat and shame ??

There is a political consulting to the Republican Party that considers WWII
Germany to have had an effective political strategy...but not necessarily as
a desirable society.
So Shock and Awe was like the Blitzcreek...in terms of political marketing.
Actually, the presidental palaces in Iraq could be historical and rich
architecture but they were categorically bombed. But who would have been
dumb enought to be sitting there...
Well, they were bombing the money to keep it out of insurgent hands. In fact
the central bank was bombed to rubble but that after a convoy of trucks had
already come and gone...
But U.S. troops are attacked while supplying the country. The occupied
country must be supplied or else there is genocide and refuge flows...
Previously, road side bombs were converted artillery shells but now there is
mention of new factory made plasma bombs that nothing can stand up to...
But in this situation Rumsfeld's performance is measured in military
enlistments and military re-enlistments...
