Object: Impertinent Question # 212
Now that Iraki soldiers have learned how to fight a civil war AND
take down US helicopters AND take out US armored vehicles and fight a
successful urban guerilla war, when will American leaders realize
there is not much difference betwen holding a fortified position
(Green Zone) and being surrounded on all sides by a skilled and
determined enemy? Kinda like the French were at Dien Bien Phu., or
like the Germans were at Stalingrad ?

When we get new American leaders, that's when. Expect this war to go on
until the next administration, Bush is too stupid to do anything about it.
If the American people are dumb enough to put in McCain or other Repug war
monger, it may go on way beyond that. The way to stop it is to "cut and run"
as fast as we can and don't look back. There is nothing in this for the US
and no good will come of it no matter how long we stay. They must fight
their own civil war, we can't and shouldn't do it for them. Let the chips
fall where they may.

I would not use the term "Cut and Run." We went in, kicked butt. Got
Saddam hanged (we think) Made sure that they have no WMD's. Gave
them a constitutional government - that we hope (it's made to appear)
will develop. Mission Accomplished! We leave now it's like saying,
FU Iraq. We don't give a S about you or your country.
If we leave now, they might kill each other and possibly the entire
region goes ballistic. So what. The jews in "so called" Israel will
be happy. Probably what they wanted in the first place. Some say
that the US is the armed proxy of the jews. (?) Probably going
according to plan. So, maybe the peace niks are playing their part
too.
Why are they killing each other? How bout, the Shiites don't know
much about government and, the Sunni's don't like the deals they
(Shiites) made, which are not in the countries favor. Figure, we
destroyed infrastructure and lives based on a diabolical program (on
the say so of an idiot which, as it turns out, the "say so" were lies.
The shrub is too dumb to know that he's "The Patsy.")
Wonder why here is an insurgency? The store is given away to alien
corporations but, we don't hear much about that. We are liable but,
we are using their (Iraqi) monies to pay for the repairs and such.
We should stay awhile longer. This has to play out: I wonder if Iraq
and the region will ever have justice.

The more I know, the more I know - I don't know.

If you liked Dien Bien Phu, Stalingrad, and the U.S.Postal Service, you are
gonna love it when the Democratics are back to running a war.

The Sunni insurgents have begun car bomb attacks on Shittes in Baghdad.
Shitte militas not controlled by the Iraq government have begun purges of
Sunni middle class in Baghdad. At this point U.S. soldiers and convoys may
be secondary targets to a Sunni insurgency...however recently several
helicopters have been shot down. And bullets and bombs are flying everywhere
in Baghdad.
Now there are a hundred thousand or more Sunni refugees in countries west of
Iraq. So not all Sunni are insurgents...
The best Iraq policy would have been to fortify the Southern and Northern
no-fly zones. The Kurds would have been liberated. The Shittes would have
been liberated. And the resulting ambiguous situation would have allowed
fortifications and military bases to stay long term. One problem would have
been an objection by Turkey about an independent Kurd area and another
problem would be the possibility that a million Shittes in Baghdad would
have become refugees to the South.
The current situation is that even a moderate Iraq government will ask the
U.S. to leave military bases that the U.S. spent a half-a-trillion dollars
to position. And future voting by fundamentalist Shittes will likely move
Iraq to close ties with Iran...
