Object: Impertinent Question # Forty Two
Reports say that Bush has read a book. (Will wonders never cease ?)
From this book he has drawn a lesson: That the way to block the rise of
hate groups, terrorists and other radical anti- social movements throughout
the world is through freedom, democracy, voting and elections. So how does
he explain the rise of Nazism under the Weimar republic of Germany ? Or the
Red Brigades in Italy ? Or the Bader Meinhof Gangs ? Or the IRA ? The Black
Panthers ? The Jewish Defense League ? The Weather Underground ? Or the
Symbionese Liberation Army ? Not to mention the Ted Kaczinskis or the
Timothy McVeighs of this world.
Is Bush preparing to assume the role of World Policeman, committing
American
blood and treasure in an endless crusade for "goodness" which cannot be
justified by logic, history, tradition or public opinion ?
.
