Suppose there were a city whose drinking water was polluted by
industrial / chemical waste, PLUS human bacterial filth, PLUS salt
water. Suppose its air were polluted by massive concentrations of toxic
chemicals from some of the largest chemical companies on earth
operating with little or no restrictions. Suppose it was built below
sea level and subject to flooding both from the sea and from a very
large river. Suppose it were in the path of devastating hurricanes
bring death and destruction every few years, plus monumental havoc
perhaps every twenty five years or so. And suppose it was the most
politically corrupt city in the most politically corrupt state in the
nation. Why would anyone with the brains that God gave to geese wish
to REBUILD such a city following its latest calamity, or live there
afterwards ?
