With the administration releasing almost daily reports admitting its failure
to reach army recruitment goals, how long will it be before the first trial
balloon goes up which mentions the dreaded D word ? Not from the White
House of course. That's too risky and provides no plausible deniability.
My guess it that will happen very soon. In less than two weeks time look for
a third deputy assistant director for manpower at the Pentagon to mention
the word. Maybe at Camp Mudpuddle, in front of a carefully selected group
of soldiers, primed and spring loaded to deliver applause, cheers and
whistles. On cue. Of course if it all goes badly, look for the White House
to dismiss it as nonsense. Remember, you heard it here first.
