OK. So CBS did their usual bad job of reporting it. But does
anyone
believe that Bush did NOT avoid Viet Nam by pulling strings to get into

national guard ? Does anyone believe he did NOT weasel out of his
obligations once he got that slot in the National Guard ? Aren't we
still
waiting for the line of buddies, friends and comrades in arms who
remember
serving with him in Alabama ?
The fact remains that AWOL Bush was still AWOL. The CBS memos were
esentially correct and nobody denied their content, just the authenticity
and who wrote what. CBS errored by keeping the story alive then apologizing
with their tails between their legs giving the reich-wingers lots of fuel.
And now they fire a few people while the rabid reich continues to crackle.
CBS should have presented the story then shut up and not even commented on
it again. If the rupugs complained then CBS should have told them to stick
it in their ear much the way Bill O'Reilly would have done. Dan Blather
looked pathetic apologizing and explaining while worring about what the
reich thinks. He's a totally phony liberal without the conviction to bang
heads like his repug collegues would have. Now he's history. Curriously, the
people who were most rabid against Blather and CBS never watched his show
anyway so what's their beef? By making a big fuss they helped keep the
stupid thing alive. But Bush was still AWOL no matter what happens at CBS.
