Object: Imus down, Coulter next?
Letter to employees explains reasons for firing Imus:
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2007/4/12/173145.shtml?s=ic
Excerpt:
"One thing is for certain: This is about a lot more than Imus. As has
been widely pointed out, Imus has been visited by Presidents, Senators,
important authors and journalists from across the political spectrum. He
has flourished in a culture that permits a certain level of
objectionable expression that hurts and demeans a wide range of people.
In taking him off the air, I believe we take an important and necessary
step not just in solving a unique problem, but in changing that culture,
which extends far beyond the walls of our Company.
I want to thank all those who came to see us to express their views. We
are now presented with a significant opportunity to expand on our record
on issues of diversity, race and gender. We intend to seize that
opportunity as we move forward together."
People have a first amendment right to free expression, but there is no
inalienable right to have CBS as your venue. They did the right thing to
-- finally -- fire Imus. There should be room in broadcast media for
the full spectrum of political speech, from William Kristol to Noam
Chomsky, but the commentary must be civil and must not incite violence.
Ann Coulter has incited violence and engaged in hate speech. No
respectable network or radio station should allow her on the air.

I think Imus voted for Kerry. At least that's what I heard.

Hmm, then I wonder why all these rightards are so offended he was fired.
You'd think they'd be happy that liberals executed one of their own.
Must be they're going to miss hearing racist insults on the air.

Actually no. She is not hired by any one. After some of her comments
some papers dropped her column but she increase her speaking
engagements, she became more in demand by people why like here stuff.
I never liked Imus from the few times I had seen him on TV. Just
because I don't like him that doesn't mean I want him to loose his
job. BTW Imus is a Democrat and I remember him supporting Kerry.
Still that is not important either. Forget Coulter, Rosie made just
as if not more racially offensive comments. I can't stand her and
wish people would stop talking about her and repeating what she says.
Again should not be fired but ignored by everyone who doesn't choose
her silly show. If ratings are down and then that is when she should
go.
I don't think counter is next, who does she work for to be fired? She
makes money on her books and that is all publishers care bout. I went
to the book store and in the history section the book I saw the most
was Mein Kampf. If there is a market and a desire to hear Imus some
one will have him a venue to speak.
I would like to know who gets the proceeds from Mein Kampf, the Hitler
Family?
