Why is it conservatives always pick the losing side of issues which matter
to Americans?
I'm the proud owner of a brand spanking new AT-PZEV mid-sized family
automobile. Too bad I had to run to a foreign company to purchase it.
Now maybe American manufactures will wake up and try to catch up with the
rest of the world. They're only about 10 years behind now...

a victory for the Bush administration's legal strategy in its fight
against terrorism.

The only fight Bush is waging these days is to coverup his crimes:
Former military officers, diplomats and federal judges joined the detainees
in urging the court to take prompt action. The court "held in no uncertain
terms that the Guantanamo detainees were entitled to habeas corpus review to
challenge the lawfulness of their detention," they said in their supporting
brief. "But since that decision in June 2004, the court's mandate has been
frustrated and not a single detainee has had a habeas hearing in federal
court."

detainees who want to challenge their five-year-long confinement in court,
a
victory for the Bush administration's legal strategy in its fight against
terrorism.

There is no reason not to allow these detainees the same rights to a fair
trial that U.S. citizens receive.
The biggest reason the Bush cabal doesn't want trials for these detainees is
because it would highlight just how immoral and criminal his war on
terrorism has become.
From the same article that you posted:

The Bill of Rights only applies within the US. In fact, Hitler
committed suicide before being captured. If he had been captured, it
would probably have been by Soviet troops.
Others charged as war criminals, eg, Goering, von Papen, Jodl, Hess,
Speer, et al. were given public trials before the International

Thanks for proving they had no US citizen constitutional rights.

Are you a moron or simply do not know how to read? They would have had
protections under the Bill of Rights had they been tried in the United
States under United States Law. Being as they were War Criminals they were
tried under the Geneva Conventions in an International Court. If the folks
in Gitmo can be shown to be War Criminals that is where they too should be
tried. If they are not then they are prisoners of War and thus must be
treated as such under the Geneva Conventions. This is simple matter and
something even a simpleton like you should be able to grasp.

The Bush's gitmo is a Soviet's gulag.

==================
Even the Liberal Wash Post ripped you maggots over your outrageous
ccomparison of Guitmo to Soviet gulags.
Washington Post. And the reason the Post condemned Amnesty International was
that Anne Applebaum, author of the most definitive work yet on the Gulag,
sits on the Post's editorial board. She knows how immoral the comparison is.
She knows what happened at Gulag. But I believe that most members of the
press do not. Leftist moral confusion and animosity toward America and
President Bush are not the only reasons for the widespread acceptance of the
Amnesty International libel of America and its trivialization of Stalin's
horrors. The other is the simple ignorance of history -- especially
concerning Communist atrocities -- among many of the world's journalists. An
Associated Press report of May 26th (printed in the Washington Post and
countless other newspapers) described the Gulag thus: "Thousands of
prisoners of the so-called gulags died from hunger, cold, harsh treatment
and overwork."
Thousands? This is our mainstream news media. I am certain the average
journalist has little idea about how many people Stalin murdered in the
Gulag.
So, for the record, here are some comparisons between the Gulag and
Guantanamo, courtesy of David Bosco and published in The New Republic:
Individuals detained: Gulag -- 20 million. Guantanamo -- 750 total.
Number of camps: Gulag -- 476 separate camp complexes comprising thousands
of individual camps. Guantanamo -- five small camps on the U.S. military
base in Cuba.
Reasons for Imprisonment: Gulag -- Hiding grain; owning too many cows; need
for slave labor; being Jewish; being Finnish; being religious; being middle
class; having had contact with foreigners; refusing to sleep with the head
of Soviet counterintelligence; telling a joke about Stalin. Guantanamo --
Fighting for the Taliban in Afghanistan; being suspected of links to Al
Qaeda and other terrorist groups.
Red Cross Visits: Gulag -- none that Bosco could find. Guantanamo -- regular
visits since January 2002.
Deaths as a Result of Poor Treatment: Gulag -- at least two to three million
(Bosco understates). Guantanamo -- no reports of prisoner deaths.
If Amnesty International does not fire Irene Khan and retract her obscene
comparison, it is unworthy of respect or support. A new non-leftist
anti-torture organization must be built.

The Bush's gitmo is a Soviet's gulag.

==================

You,ve been derailed...the issue is not the number of deaths but the
fact of the deaths: which means that, such activities whilst being
almost invariably at the top of the list by dictators etc and common
activities of man against man(women included) throughout the
scintillating history of homo sapiens sapiens, isn't it about time
that these issues were no longer domestic issues for chat on the net
whilst millions still get offered up on the alters on mans capacity
for extreme absurdities....Whatever official figures exist about the
millions of people who were butchered senslessly, that they exist in
such millions seems to make it all the more debatable for the blood-
lusters out there than for the action of preventing a continuing post
& modern history of more. Some of you people should really be flogged
for your utterly disgraceful capacity to not find integrity and
justice...its so, so easy to yawn and kook and ya'all.
