In case you don't know - Here's how warmonger Ted Nugent avoided military service |
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Nugent
Nugent was draft age during the Vietnam war. In the December 15, 1990
issue of the Detroit Free Press Magazine, Nugent was quoted as saying
that 30 days before his draft board physical, he stopped all forms of
personal hygiene. The last 10 days, he ingested nothing but Vienna
sausages and Pepsi; and a week before his physical, he stopped using
bathrooms altogether, virtually living inside pants caked with his own
excrement, stained by his urine. That spectacle won Nugent a deferment,
he says. "... but if I would have gone over there, I'd have been
killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd killed all the hippies in the
foxholes...I would have killed everybody." In a 2006 interview
published in The Independent, Nugent denies ever saying (or doing)
that. According to Nugent's current website, he enrolled at Oakland
Community College and took a student deferment ([1]).

You need to pay attention to what he has said about Iran:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/specials/elections/chi-0409250111sep25,0,999197.story?coll=chi-news-hed
He's also been pretty hawkish on Venezuela and Lebanon, and in 2004 he
was talking about a troop increase in Iraq.

I know that. Everyone in congress is more pro-war than they should be.
The profiteers pay them a fortune to support war. But Barack is not as
crazy pro-war as cowards like Nugent or Bush or Cheney.

Didn't you know that most draft-age guys then didn't serve? Even of
those who did serve, only a small percentage ever saw Nam; famously,
Ted Kennedy - after losing his college deferment when expelled from
Harvard for cheating - was a military policeman IN GERMANY. The simple
ratio between the number of guys ever in Nam and the number who were
draft-age then makes obvious that very few then draft-age ever saw Nam.

Yeah, but that doesn't explain why so few current Republican
politicians who would have been of age then dodged it and yet are
hyper-militaristic compared to current Democrat politicos who went and
aren't, does it? It's the hypocrisy, stupid.

Most people who were in combat in Vietnam aren't cheerleaders for war. The

I wouldn't agree with that. I think his status as a rocker are
legitimized by his having penned and performed at least one classic,
and having been in bands that produced hits in three different decades.
I wasn't a big fan of his, and definitely am not a fan of his attempts
to be the androgenous counterpart to Stan Coulter, but I think the
cracks about him being a hack musician are off base.
His

Now Charlie Daniels is indeed a bit funny, when you consider his entire
career is based on a single hit from around 1980 that enjoyed a brief
resurgence when it was included in the "Urban Cowboy" soundtrack.
I suppose fiddlers probably hold him in high regard though.

killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd killed all the hippies in the
foxholes...I would have killed everybody." In a 2006 interview
published in The Independent, Nugent denies ever saying (or doing)
that. According to Nugent's current website, he enrolled at Oakland
Community College and took a student deferment ([1]).

HAHAHA. Don't these big talking hypocrite chickenhawk republicans
crack you up. Ted is even worse than Limbaugh who avoided military
service by claiming he had anal cysts!!! HAHAHA
Then, of course, there is the issue of his penchant for "dating" 12 and
13 year old girls when he was in his 20s and 30s.
Yep, he's a real poster-boy for GOP values.
If it weren't for his big mouth and stupid antics, Nugent never would
have been noticed. He's only a passable rock guitarist at best.
He's a dipshit, but he's better than a passable guitarist.
He's actually a very skilled guitarist. Not on the order of Eddie Van
Halen, but probably a hell of a lot moreso than the ones you think are
any good.
His
fifteen minutes were up a long time ago but the rightards are so
desperate for live entertainment at their big faux patriot rallies that
they'll take anybody. Nugent and Charlie Daniels? I'll pass.
