When America was the leader of a successful wartime coalition=97and =
the world wished it to continue in that role=97it made excellent sense =
to place UN headquarters in New York. But those days have long passed. =
America has accepted its world-policeman destiny, and the UN is merely a =
minor obstacle to the successful performance of that task. The place has =
become a mere theater of empty rhetoric and shameless deals supporting a =
growing tide of anti-Semitism and racism and=97let us not be =
mealymouthed=97state crime. It is a place where near-bankrupt =
dictatorships can sell their votes to the highest bidder.=20
It is also a place where well-connected playboy diplomats from the =
Third World can indulge in an expense-account lifestyle in one of the =
richest cities on earth, ignoring the pitiful poverty of their home =
countries and often using their diplomatic immunity to break the law. =
This is an insult to the dignity of the human race.
As the UN is now constituted, a far better location for it would be in =
a city near the gravitational center of the Afro-Eurasian landmass. =
There it would be close to the realities of the problems it ought to be =
tackling=97poverty; bad, cruel and corrupt governments; international =
lawlessness; civil wars. The place I=92d suggest is Dar es Salaam =
(though I can think of a half-dozen other equally suitable venues). =
Having UN headquarters there would hugely reduce the cost of running it =
and its associated activities from New York. It would also deter the =
playboy element that is one of the curses of the organization and help =
persuade both staff and delegations to take their jobs seriously.

Por eso, amigo . Lejos de aqui nadie se sentira influenciado por USA. Al =
fin y al cabo todos esos tracatranes tienen que hacer su entrada por =
alguno de los aeropuertos de Nueva York y, desde ahi, quien sabe a donde =
se dirigiran sus pasos. Ademas, dime, que interes tienes tu en que la =
ONU permanezca en territorio de Estados Unidos? Por que? CUal es el =
motivo? No piensas que estaria mejor en Paris, por ejemplo, y que Chirac =
lidiara con todos esos problemas de visas etc? Asi Fidel Castro, en vez =
de venir a NY - que maldita falta hace - viajaria a Paris y todos tan =
panchos.
Ademas, estoy estudiando incorporar una nueva resolucion ( o peticion ) =
para agregar a la del desalojo de la ONU de Nueva York.
Estoy proponiendo a mi grupo - el grupo de los gringos - que tambien =
llevemos a las votaciones del 2008, otra resolucion en la que se limite =
seriamente la facultad que tienen el Congreso y la Casa Blanca de =
otorgar creditos a fondo perdido y ayudas humanitarias por miles de =
millones de dolares. Vamos a tratar de que los americanos voten para =
parar esas fugas de dinero a fondo perdido y que, al fin y al cabo, solo =
sirven para enriquecer a tiranuelos, aumentar sus cuentas corrientes =
privadas y que raramente solucionan el hambre de los pueblos.
Aqui necesitamos ese dinero tambien. No queremos que salga de este pais. =
El que quiera dinero, que trabaje como lo hacemos nosotros. QUe sea el =
Banco Mundial el que lidie con esos toros y que sea con dinero de otras =
naciones. Nosotros ya estamos cansados de ayudar al enemigo y que encima =
nos pongan de "chupa de Domine" por cualquier motivo. Ya veras. Esto va =
en serio. Y lo mejor es que mis amigos democratas sienten mas jubilo que =
los mismos republicanos, que tambien estan encantados.
