Our government's conduct is merely the expression of our individual desires.
Nothing the United States government does or fails to do is anything more or
less than a large mirror reflecting the collective will of each individual.
What this simple truth means, of course, is that our government tortures
because we, as individuals, either wish for it to be so, or we are too
afraid to demand its halt.
