This week, Republican Governor Ernie Fletcher of Kentucky pardoned
nine members of his administration after they were charged with
violating state hiring laws. Administration officials allegedly fired
and forced out rank-and-file state employees based on their political
affiliations, not on their qualifications.

Gov. Fletcher also issued a blanket amnesty to any member of his
administration who may be charged with violating or breaking the state
merit system laws.
Kentucky Attorney General Greg Stumbo, who has been at the forefront
of this investigation, has criticized the pardons as an "abuse of
power" and as a "method to hide from justice."

It's a reflection of an egregious loophole in the US Constitution. We have
known this since the Nixon pardon, but people who point this out, mainly
me, are treated like fools that think the levee will break. Well guess
what? They're all breaking.

Gov. Fletcher declined to exercise his pardoning power for himself.
Saying that if there actually was a crime, he'll answer for it, "The
buck stops here."

He knows that if everyone else involved gets a pardon, then the state
cannot coerce them into testifying against him.
