independent views of the alleged illegal wiretapping |
I think George Bush Jr. and others have mishandled our country, but
whether the wiretapping was illegal is not clear.
The "war" (an imaginary war since our leaders continue taking
month-long vacations) does not justify a president bypassing the
law, but things change and the law does not necessarily apply.
One of the issues has to do with public versus private domains.
People take pictures of other people and record sounds in public
without worrying about invasion of privacy. Mobile phone calls can
be monitored by ordinary hackers, and even accidentally by someone
innocently experimenting with electronics. The privacy of speaking
to your wife at home is different than the privacy of speaking to
your child on your mobile phone and that is different than your
privacy when speaking to the checker in a grocery store line.
Like it or not, there is a gray area.
The combined offenses by the current administration might be enough
to impeach, but the single offense won't be. And of course heaven
forbid that ***** Cheney becomes our president.

Oh? ..I see..

also called a "LAW" Can you say L-A-W? Do you know what a LAW is and who
writes those laws?

2. ...he ADMITTED IT? He CONFESSED. He might as well have said "I'm GUILTY,

3. How "independent" can YOU be? Are you a rightwing-Rightarded-BS-Liar-SOB

WIRETAPPING is NOT a "gray area".
There is nothing unusual or unique about the term "gray area",
unless maybe you suffer from the ones and zeros disease.
Wiretapping is an old expression that does not apply very well to
modern communications. Many forms of communications can be monitored
legally for example communications through your Internet service
provider.
As many people who know something about electronics technology
already know, anyone who is technically inclined can buy equipment
that will allow eavesdropping on mobilephone conversations.
In fact, that very same point was raised today on C-SPAN. One
defense was that conversations are digitized. But the vast majority
of mobilephone conversations are probably still analog.
Like it or not, you simply cannot expect the same amount of privacy
or right to privacy that you have talking with someone in your car
or in your home.
Again, the penalty for violating a right to privacy varies
depending on the form of communication.
