Terrorist held from Mosque with Explosives

SHEIKHUPURA: Elite Force Friday arrested a member of a defunct outfit,
and recovered ten foreign made remote-controlled explosive devices,
along with wires, fuses and chemicals.
The bomb devices were recovered from a bag of worn-out 'shaheed'
(torn) pages of the holy Quran, placed in a mosque at Dera Arainyawala
in the jurisdiction of Saddar Farooqabad police.
DPO Shahid Iqbal on a tip off constituted a raiding team led by ASI
Azam Ali which arrested Imam (cleric) of mosque Muhammad Aslam. On
interrogation, he pointed-out the location of the bomb devices.
The recovered gadgets include 10 foreign made bombs, detonators, fuse
and wire.
Confession
According to Muhammad Aslam's statement, he belonged to an outlawed
organization and has got training from Afghanistan. Aslam confessed
that he was planning a terror attack.
The accused said that his accomplices were also serving as Imams in
other mosques, adding that all were former trained commandoes.
Police are conducting raids for the other suspects whose names and
addresses were disclosed by the culprit and expect a major
breakthrough in the investigations regarding the recent acts of
terrorism in the country.
IG Punjab, Saadatullah Khan and DIG Sheikhupura Range, Pervaiz Rahim
have announced promotions, cash prizes and commendatory certificates
for the policemen who conducted the raid.
