Intellectually Naked! Giuliani & Hanity. |
The one salient point that emerges from the brief exchanges in Tuesday
Night's so-called "Debate" among Republican Presidential candidates, is that
former Mayor Giuliani, and Fox's pseudo-Conservative Shaun Hanity simply do
not understand the basic issues. Their semi-hysterical approaches, even to
the brief exchanges with Congressman Ron Paul, show that they have no grasp
of fundamental concepts of Constitutional Law, economics or foreign policy.
One may agree or disagree with Congressman Paul on some of the issues, but
there should be no place--even in the brief exchanges--for anyone to take
umbrage because someone else wants to discuss issues, you do not understand.
Neither Giuliani or Hanity's response to Paul showed even the most
rudimentary understanding of basic concepts.

There is a profound truth in debates and thats what you see is what you get.
Thats why I'm still astouned that Bush won the second time.

Part of it was his delivery overall impression, but the specifics I
recall were his nutty ideas about responsibility for 9/11 and on
getting out of Iraq.

Look at this. You've ALREADY fallen victim to the Giuliani spin! What
Paul said was that there is little wonder that 9/11 happened given
that we've had soldiers in Iraq for X number of years.
Giuliani did a fit pretending that Ron Paul was saying ridiculous
things hoping (like all the RINOs and liberals here do) that people
would just do monkey-see monkey-do and just repeat his ATTITUDE and
forget about any substance. Herb has obviously fallen for this trick.
We won't discuss Ron Paul's manner because that is a different issue.
But his statement in effect made the point. we've had soldiers doing
things (breaking things and killing people) in Iraq for years prior to
9/11. Arabs live over there and are pretty much pissed about it. Some
are more pissed than others. Yet, when they drive aircraft into tall
buildings we are all supposed to be so taken by total surprise that
SOMEHOW we ended up a target of Jihad? Duh! And Giuliani made fun of
these ideas and called them insane and ludicrous (or whatever he said
it was the impression he was trying to give, in any case).
You tell me. Just WHO is the "looney" in this debate? the guy who said
9/11 should have been expected given our recent history in the Middle
East, or the guy saying that it was totally impossible for anyone to
even GUESS that some Arabs might be pissed.
This technique ranks right up there with the election where the media
drummed Howard Dean out of the presidential race because <gasp>! He
actually gave a rousing political speech!!!! Imagine that? How in hell
can a politician be "presidential" if he gives political speeches? I"m
sure NONE of the other candidates (or previous presidents) EVER gave a
rousing political speech! But, I'm sorry to say the trick worked like
magic on all you stupid Americans out there swigging beer, sucking a
joint, and watching some kind of game of "ball" on TV. You all just
aped the talking head MANNER without EVER asking what in hell they
were talking about! Had you done that you'd have seen that they were
every bit as stupid as Giuliani was in the debate. But Giuliani is
confident in your total ignorance and has few worries that anyone will
notice he's a lying moron.

To suggest that the only candidate, other than Tom Tancredo, who showed any
knowledge of Constitutional Law was "irrelevant" says more about you than
about the candidate. The office being sought is a creation of the
Constitution. The President has no legitimate authority but via the
Constitution. When the President acts without reference to the
Constitution, he acts illegally and deserves no moral respect.
If you do not want to see our whole system of Government deteriorate, you
had better think again about what is "relevant."
But enough of this foolishness. This thread has given you ample opportunity
to specifically challenge Dr. Paul's views, and all you have been able to do
is cast aspersions. That is not an argument.

Thank, buddy, that really cheered me up. I haven't reading anything that
dumb in years. Just the idea of Tancredo knowing the law is hilarious.
Look, I went to law school. Tancredo would be luck to get in. He is a one
note wonder who's making his fortune by playing to the morons in the house.
If your anti-mexican to the point that you face turns red, then Tancredo has
a ton of ways to spend your money. Look, Tancredo hasn't a hope in hell of
being the repug nominee, he's strictly here for the publicity. He's a short

Isn't the burden on those who would keep us involved there, with the costs

If Guiliani and Hanity have an arguable position, they should make their
