Iran General Helped 9/11 Plotters' Transit-Report
DUBAI -- An Iranian general collaborated with al Qaeda to arrange the
transit through Iran of nine of the September 11 hijackers, the Arabic
newspaper Asharq al-Awsat reported on Monday.
"A general in the apparatus (Revolutionary Guard) coordinated with the
number two man in al Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahri, to provide 'safe
passage' to around nine of those who carried out the attacks," the
London-based paper said.
It cited as its source an official in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard,
and said Zawahri, who requested the help, had links with the general
going back to the early 1990s.
A U.S. commission is expected to say in a report this week on the
September 11 attacks that some of the hijackers passed through Iran on
their way to the United States.
The New York Times reported on Sunday that Iran had ordered its border
guards not to stamp the passports of Saudi al Qaeda members moving
through Iran after training in Afghanistan.
An Iranian stamp could have made the al Qaeda members subject to
additional scrutiny upon entering the United States.

Considering that the 9-11 report itself says that 13 of the 19
hijackers entered the US on forged passports, and that al-Qaeda was
adept at forging passports, then the "link" between Iran and al-Qaeda
attributed to an alleged failure to stamp passports is pretty much a
blatant lie.
And you bought it.
Congrats. You've been indoctrinated - again.

Mr. Farley, I get the impression that whoever the US
government says helped the terrorists is a group you'll go along
against,
The report cites an Iranian general, not the US government.
as long as it's a group you believe to be an enemy of America.
Yes, I oppose enemies of America, imagine that!
I'm not even going to say that I'm opposed to military action
against Iran, but there are facts relevant to the question of
how and when.
Why do you support military action against Iran?
First of all, I thought the US should not have begun engaging
in large scale actions like the Iraq occupation.
It worked in Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany. Is there a better
way to transform a society that teaches children to hate, into a
society that teaches children tolerance, equality, history, math,
and science?
Hit and run missions are cheaper and could keep a power like
Iran low on high-tech weapons and on the economic ropes for 20
years.
We're not in a war of weapons, we're in a war of ideas -- the
same war the US has been fighting for over 60 years.
However, in the US, you're not allowed to have a war that doesn't
profit Lockheed and other big contractors like Halliburton, etc.
See, this is the problem with "progressives" -- all you can do is
regurgitate anti-capitalist groupthink.
You can't just go around invading country after country because of 9/11.
We can, and we will. (More on this below.)
Sooner or later someone's going to ask you if you think 3,000
American lives are worth more than 100,000 Arab lives when so
many civilians are dying.
What a joke. How many Arab civilians were raped, tortured, and
murdered each month under Saddam's rule?
http://www.aei.org/audioLib/200406181_vts_01_0.mpg.avi.mpg
Each month Saddam is not in power, each month the Taliban are
not in power, thousands of lives are saved.
Since 9-11, 50 million Arabs have been liberated from tyranny
thanks to the US and its allies.
And 9-11 was a preview into what islamic terrorists hope to
bring; it was not an isolated one-time event. If islamic
terrorists acquire nuclear weapons, they will use them on an
American city.
There is no deterrence against those who value death over life.
And if an American city is nuked, the US response is almost
unimaginable. I can assure you that all the whining about
'civil liberties' will evaporate, and the term American Fury
will take on a whole new meaning. Is this what you want?
I sure don't. So let's avoid this at all costs.
This is why when people say 'civilization is threatened' by
islamic terrorists, it's not hyperbole, it's reality.
It will take more than a generation to transform the Mideast,
but leaving it as a swamp of hate and backwardness, is not an
option.
