Blast in Baghdad's Green Zone kills two MPs
An explosion has occurred in a canteen in the Iraqi parliament complex
inside Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone.
Two MPs are among the dead and at least 15 have been wounded.
A United States military spokesman has confirmed the blast after it
was reported on Iraqiya state television.
"There was an explosion inside the Convention Centre," said
Christopher Garver in an email.
"The cause of the explosion is unknown at this time."
The Convention Centre is the name given since the US-led invasion of
Iraqi in 2003 for the complex which now houses the Iraqi parliament.
"Iraqi IZ [International Zone] security forces are responding to the
blast," said Mr Garver.
